Clean House Monday

Clean House Monday

Hi there,

Thanks for popping in. After a very, VERY busy few days oop norf, decided to get off the Clarity train today, do a bit of laundry and cleaning. Brilliant therapy, good to clear the head. Until the washing machine packs up. Grrr…That sounds like a Dave problem!

He and I have a very clear job definition, distribution of responsibilities, duties and chores. It works well. Cars – Dave. Garden – Dave. Building work – Dave. Washing machine – Dave. I just added that one….

Hereโ€™s a little topper I made on Saturday at Leyburn, using the 3-way overlay Town Houses Stamps. It was the last demo of the day, and I popped it in my handbag, thinking it would do for a quick blog today!

Distress Oxide inks, layered up on the No. 3 stamp, then spritzed with water to blend.
When you look really closely, you can see how the Oxides blend and create a really authentic water colour affect.

I love using the Distress Oxides together with our 3-way overlay stamps. They are very easy and so effective! The various combinations are so cool!

Chill time now.

Until tomorrow, Love & Hugs,

Barb xxx

  1. Love this. I’m just getting into Distress Oxides. Made a long list of colours for my Christmas list.๐Ÿ˜€ Hope you manage a rest in amongst the cleaning and washing. X

  2. I was going to do housework Monday, but got involved with my Fresh Cut Thanks die and started to make my weekend thank you notes, oh well the dust will still be here tomorrow. Except tomorrow I’m going to my first Groovi get together in Bromley. I’m very excited!!

  3. Just got in from our trip to Leyburn, having a cuppa and snack before I tackle the bags. It was a great weekend Barbara. The team on Saturday were fabulous and you taught the Groovi workshop so well. It was a shame that Linda could not join us but you stepped into her shoes brilliantly. Thank- you for a fabulous weekend. X

  4. ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค— yay, happy dance, happy face, inside and out. Our boys did us so proud, brilliant game. The scoreline says it all -34 -0 against Samoa… Sorry, but it’s not that often us up here get to cheer about something this big!
Hi Barb, glad you are having a day off doing what YOU want to do, and chilling. Love your wee oxide 3 way overlay art piece, thanks for showing us. I do need these oxides, they seems to be the type of inkpad I’ve been searching for, inbetween dye based and pigment. Today’s chores are almost done here too. My next dilemma is do I risk turning the happy feelings into down and frustration ones or do I file all things Groovi to the very bottom of the to do pile… Enjoy the rest of your day off. Love you xxx
Thanks Cherry, for your wee reply yesterday ๐Ÿ˜Šxx

  5. Good you stepped off the Clarity wagon to get organised and clear your head from work. I had a lovely time at Leyburn on Saturday so thank you for all the hard work organising and actually doing the weekend. I hadn’t been before as I’m normally away on holiday and miss it but will hopefully be back. So thanks to ALL the team x

  6. Living in the States, I am always tickled by the different use of words I read here. For instance, handbag. Even in the US, there are regional terms for that thing we use to lug our stuff about in. When I live on the East coast, it was a pocketbook, but here in the West, it is a purse. I also follow some friends’ blogs in Australia and am learning whilst (we say while), and from both I’m learning to adjust to extra (to me they’re extra) u’s in things like color, LOL! It takes so little to amuse me ๐Ÿ™‚
Thanks for always bringing a bit of sunshine into my day!

  7. Love this the colours are so beautiful when they blend and they do indeed look very like watercolours. Glad the Leyburn weekend went well. Good luck with the washing machine. Xx

  8. I’m going right now to have a go at this! – I have a little spare time right now as supper is ready to go for later and my daughter finally passed her driving test, so no more school runs after 30 + years of driving all my children around! – I’m celebrating!
My dishwasher is down too, not good! Wish my hubby had time to do repairs, sadly they are down to me! ๐Ÿ˜ฅ I need a Dave! ๐Ÿคฃ

  9. I was going to have a chill out day , swim then crafty afternoon , but yesterday brother in law was taken to pembury with poss heart attack , then got text from mum when I finished work at 8am to say dad had been taken in , so spent afternoon visiting both , in the same A M U but different bays ๐Ÿ˜ท๐Ÿ˜ท

  10. Been putting my lovely Leyburn purchases away today, so a type of ‘clear head’ day for me too, in a totally different way to yours. Then moved onto finishing off my make’n’take card, once this is done I need to get my glitter out to finish off the beautiful card from yesterday’s workshop. Needless to say I’ll post pics of both on Groovi Worldwide once they’re done. Thanks again to one and all involved in making the weekend so special xx

  11. Love this and sounds simple. Need to give it a try. I only have the original Distress Inks (not the oxides) so hope it works with those too.

  12. Glad you are all back safely – thank you for a brilliant Saturday – I learnt loads (and spent loads too! thank heavens for the club discount!) It was lovely to see you all again – how you and Dave work is a joy to behold, and….I met Steve for the first time – asked him how your dad is, – good apparently – so I’m glad he’s OK too (we need updates you know!). Loved your new display boards, I’m going to have a go at replicating a few of the designs. So you see, it is ALWAYS worth you popping up if you can. Thanks again (and esp. to Paul)
    love

  13. Loved both days at Leyburn so glad you came up North!
The three way overlay stamps look good with the oxides thanks for the demo.

  14. Got home 30 ins ago after a 542 mile round trip to Leyburn! However, this morning and over lunchtime I had a couple of hours visiting the Aysgarth Falls. Apparently there was some rain yesterday and those of us when were inside at Leyburn missed it! Certainly made the Falls look impressive and it was lovely and sunny. Hope everyone else got home safely. Missed that demo, Barbara, but will give it a go! Just watching Leonie with Cherry Green’s stamps so that I get some ideas of what to do with my lovely raffle prize. Will have a play tomorrow. Hx

  15. Love the look of the oxides, bought a load but haven’t used them yet. Been more into Groovi lately. Received Tina’s Floral delights today and spent the afternoon working with them. Bit fiddly in places and have aching eyes but the finished results are good, (at least I think so!!) ๐Ÿ˜€
    Have a good evening.

  16. Sorry to hear about your washing machine, why is it they always go wrong when you are in the mood for washing & have loads to do. Thank goodness for the Dave’s of this world.
We have stopped off in York on our way home, the river has burst its banks so there are no river walks but I am sure we will find plenty to do.
Thank you again for a great weekend to everyone who helped it all take place. It was nice to meet some of the names on here in person as well.

  17. Hope Dave manages to sort your washing machine out, they always pack up when you have a pile of washing don’t they? That step by step is super, I have about a half dozen of the distress oxides, really need to have a play with them. Been finishing off the groovi cards I started whilst away in Cornwall. Weather was awful so read in the mornings, went out afternoons and did groovi in the evenings, feel so rested now. xxx

  18. Hi Barb,
Sorry to hear about the washing machine – Iโ€™m sure Dave will sort it out though! My Dave wouldnโ€™t have a clue!! Thankfully he went out this morning so I managed to โ€œsmuggle โ€œ my Leyburn goodies into my craft cupboard without him seeing! Just enough room for them too! Been much drier here today until about 7pm when the heavens opened again big style. Like Su,Iโ€™ve been finishing my make and take and doing a bit to my Cardinal card – working on the wreath bit. Thanks again for a brilliant weekend. Love and hugs, Alison

  19. Glad you had a great weekend and trip home hope Dave can fix the washing machine. Love the little demo love the house seen lots love ๐Ÿ’•

  20. Hello Barb, love the arty piece with the houses stamp, fab colour combo. It is very annoying when the washing machine packs up. Hope Dave can fix it. Take care all. Bx

  21. Lovely arty piece today – I love the distress oxides too! Shame about your washing machine. Hope Dave is able to fix it x

  22. Dear Barbara. I left a message on your blog a few days ago, then realized you probably wonโ€™t see it. I have just been catching up, I so wanted to come to Leyburn but donโ€™t have a car, or a driver. You all seem to have a great time as usual.
I am in Bury Lancashire, and canโ€™t seem to find any groups near enough. I know.
, Maria does in Liverpool , and some in Preston.but all a bit far at the moment by train. Will keep looking
You need a rest now as it will have been very busy.
Thank you to you and all the team. Xxxxx

  23. This pic of your artwork does not do it justice
I watched you make this one from start to finish. Gorgeous Hugs ๐Ÿค—
