The Early Bird…

The Early Bird…

Hi there,

Welcome to the crack of dawn! The silence was deafening, and so it woke me. What a great way to start the day, with a dawn chorus of chirping and twittering, and the sun climbing up into the clear blue sky. After an energetic, fun evening of dancing and singing in the little hall here (the singing raffle was a first!) followed by a midnight cuppa and cake, I was up and at it far sooner than anticipated! Dave too. I heard him strumming his guitar whilst boiling the kettle for the first brew of the day, too. And no, that’s not a euphemism! In the words of Dick Emery, „Ooooh! You are awful! but I like you!“

In fact, my head is full of art today, because, after our hot cross buns, Mike and I are going to make a plan for next Saturday’s TV show. You see, we had this hairbrained idea that it might be fun to do a Hotplate / cold plate duet on HOCHANDA; Mike working with waxes on his hotplate, and Barbie working with paints and inks on her Gelli plate! So next Saturday marks the spot! 12 noon and 4 pm on TV. Hochanda.com

We thought it might be interesting if we swapped seats too, so I’d best practice a bit first!!!! And I’m sure Mike will be thinking the same thing! That I need help!! No, that he should have a play with the cold plate too – the Gelpress.

So before it gets warm and too hot to be cooped up with waxes and a hot iron, I am going to find Mike early!

Have a lovely Easter Sunday.

Love & hugs,

Barb xxx

  2. Ooh now that does sound exciting, shall look forward to that one for sure. Glad yoy enjoyed your down time. I have always said we have some beautiful places in the UK and you have certainly proved my point. Don’t work too hard or too long, enjoy the sunshine and each other. Xxxx

  3. It looks as though the beauty and peace of Pembrokeshire is working wonders for you and Dave. It is a stunning part of the world. Can I see a Welsh borehole on the horizon? If so,I am sure you have plenty of perfect artwork to put on the walls. True peace and quiet is so good for us all. xxx Maggie (Silvercrafter)

  4. Good morning Barbara! It sounds as though you are having such a great time in Wales! It’ll do your artwork good too as it will relax your mind instead of it running at full belt on other things so you can then really be creative. I bet you make some beautiful pieces today. It’s already warm here so going to sit and have a cuppa outside. Being a Sunday it’s quieter!
    Love and hugs Xxxx

  8. Looking forward to the shows, have put all of them on to record. The sunshine outside looks so inviting but all I do when I go out is sneeze & my eyes run & itch so have decided to stay indoors. Hopefully the pollen levels will level out soon – its a case of too much all together. Pembrokeshire sounds wonderful though – far away from the maddening crowd !!

  19. Hi Barb,
It certainly sounds as though Pembrokeshire is doing you the world of good. You will be all chilled out when you get back I hope. Looking forward to the ‘double act’ shows as I’m really intrigued with encaustic art and I obviously love Clarity. I have always watched shows with Mike and Shona with amazement at what they can do with a little iron and blocks of wax! Love and hugs Alison xx

Loved watching Mike and Shona doing the encaustic art, I remember reading that you had the kit. Be great to watch you and Mike swapping roles. Must record you both to watch again and again. xxx
