Monday – and it’s Distressing!

Hi there,

Thanks for popping in.

Thank you so much for watching and supporting Paul and myself on telly yesterday and today. We do love a sellout! And thank you for buying the 2019 Clarity calendar

– we still have them on our website, so treat yourself. When they’re gone, they’re gone. It’s a limited edition this year. No reprints as we have in past years.

I ran out of time yesterday too; wanted to show you how the 3-way overlay stamps work with Distress Oxide ink pads, but decided to show you here….

So here are the 3 Acorn tile stamps. 1 (lineart), 2 (infill) and 3 (background fill).

Let’s have a play….

The tile here is simple, No. 1 Stamp (lineart) first, with a permanent Archival Sepia ink pad.

No. 3 Stamp (background fill) next , using the Distress oxide, Carved Pumpkin.

Nice, bright, crisp print.

Let’s try something else.

Same line art stamp first, but ink BLOT plot. Use the second generation ink, so it is more faded.

Same background fill stamp next, but again, second generation  – so more faded. DON’T CLEAN THE STAMP!

Smear and dab a little Ripe Persimmon  over the same No. 3 stamp, blot lightly and then stamp in over the top. DON’T CLEAN THE STAMP!

Dab a little more Carved Pumpkin and Ripe Persimmon on the No. 3 stamp, and lightly blot. Dab a little Peeled Paint (green) around the base and lightly blot. Dab a little Barn Door (re) down the middle and lightly blot the stamp.

So now you have layers of Distress Oxide ink on your No. 3 stamp.  Hold the stamp at arm’s length and lightly spritz with water.

The Distress Oxide ink turns into a delightful little water colour! Really superb. See?

Here’s another little sample, but NOT spritzed with water. Also lovely, but now you can see the difference up close.

So there you have it. A simple little lesson in how to use our 3-way overlay stamps in combination with Distress Oxides.

Let’s finish up one of them. Chisel end of a pink Promarker around the edge.

Mounted on a 5x5in. cardblank. Done. Happy Autumn.

There are 7 of the latest 3-way overlay stamps. illustrated by Mel, very arty, superb to use, mix and match.

Available individually – or as a big family set.

Got to go. More calendars to sign…..

Love & Hugs,

  1. I am just watching the last few minutes of Paul’s final show as the last one goes to make the sell out. Brilliant shows. I love what you have blogged today, beautiful colours too. I do hope there will be one or two calendars left for the NEC. Traffic permitting, I will be there as the doors open on the first day to grab my calendar and a place on Linda’s Make and Take. See you all soon. xxx Maggie (Silvercrafter)

  2. Aren’t Distress Oxides the best.
Thanks for the great ODS demos. Every time you both come up with something awesome & new. Even got my daughter to sit & watch you. She’s always looking for ideas for her Therapeutic Art sessions at a local SEN school and, even with a 1st class degree in Design Crafts, she loved watching the leaf demo. Learning we always are! 🤣

  3. Love my Oxide inks and they work so well on the overlay stamps. I also use them on the gelli and they work well there too. Thank you for all the fab shows this weekend, I would say have a rest but I expect you are all now gearing up for the NEC shows at the weekend. I can see why you would be asleep at your desk like that little monkey in your picture! XX

  4. Evening bloggy friends, chilly here, not good when it’s playground duty day! Hope everyone is comfy on the naughty step with me, if we huddle together we can keep each other warm. XX

  5. Only bought 2 of the overlay stamp sets yesterday but now, having seen all the samples, wish I had bought the bundle. I love the Make a Wish dies and plates and this time did order the bundle. The shows were brilliant as usual, watched them all except the 5pm which I have recorded. Not surprised there was a sellout across the board.
Received my Tina’s plates today, they are going to be very useful especially in combination with other Groovi plates she has designed. The ‘how to’ leaflet included was a brilliant idea, so useful.
Off now to watch Paul’s last show.

  6. Calendar ordered and despatched, thank you. I wish I could afford to keep up with every fabulous new thing that you bring out but I think I would very quickly become single and very hungry!! Lol. Love these demos here and will be using my distress inks on the overlay stamps I already have. Thank you for the inspiration. 😘😘

  7. I watched your first show yesterday afternoon and the first of the ODS shows. Loved the leaf art, going to look for some leaves and try it myself. The new dies are gorgeous, my wish list keeps getting longer xx

  8. Love Distress Oxides. Shows were great, managed to see most of them. Got several leaves being pressed under piles of books. Really liked that idea. xx

  9. Great shows and not surprised it was a sell out. The plates and dies are beautiful.
Received my latest Tina plates today – such quick service from Clarity. The how to sheet and design inspirations is a great idea and much appreciated. Can’t wait to have a play. Cheers Annette X

  14. Hi Barb,
The shows were fantastic this weekend. I had a little chuckle at Paul giving us a sneaky peak of something new coming up.Looking forward to seeing the rest of them. Loved all of the goodies on offer but just too much to buy at once. My Tina’s plates arrived today from Clarity Towers, but didn’t get the project sheet unfortunately. Really looking forward to playing with them. Also had an email to say my Make a Wish quartet dies have been dispatched – brilliant service thank you .Love and hugs,Alison xxx

  20. Dear Barbara. Really enjoyed you and Paul at the weekend. You have some wonderful ideas. I loved the leaf you did. I brought a lot back from New England when I went several years ago. Hope I still have them, would love to try that.
Sorry I didn’t buy anything, hoping I can get a lot as Christmas presents. Must drop lots of hints. Hope you get a rest before next weekend and Germany. Good luck with them all. Xxxxx

  21. Dear Barbara. Thank you for the lovely demonstrations you and Paul did at the weekend. Love watching you and all the great ideas. Liked the one on the leaf. Hope you get a rest before the weekend and your trip to Germany. Good luck with them all, keep safe. Xxxxxx

  22. Love this tutorial blog – I added to my Oxides stash with your last offer, and still haven’t opened them yet! Must book myself some play time in my craft room very soon as I also want to try out some of the techniques with the small gel press shapes that you demoed on TV. Don’t wear yourself out with all you have going on this week xxx
