Wedding Pics and Borders…

Wedding Pics and Borders…

Hi there.

Thanks for popping in.

Dave and Jim are in the States on a business mission, and I am keeping myself busy, hatching a few new ideas, as you do when the kitchen’s closed!

The first thing I decided to do was throw a little light on our Groovi Borders. It’s funny how I can leap from one thing to another in a nano second! One minute, I was just looking through some wedding photos on my ipad, reminiscing…

Mum, Dad, brother Steve and the kids.

Barb with her bridesmaids, Alex, Grace and Carron

Bet you recognise most of this lovely lot!

Port Lympne

Handmade hats by my mate Mandy (she was at the wedding t00),

Handmadepaper flowers by my mate Rebecca (she was at the wedding too!)

The next minute I was in Groovi Border World !!!! Blame the I-Pad!!

And that’s okay. I was just about to start missing the kids, so it’s as well I got swept away on a Groovi wave.

There are so many super border designs, yet in our quest for the ever new and innovative, we have left the lovely borders behind !

I recall when we first started with Groovi, when it was just Paul, Maria, Jim and myself. (And yes – they are all in the photo above). Back when we were just figuring out the best way to tackle parchment art. Do you remember? We used to cellotape the borders to the side of the standard Grooviplate Mate. That was before Groovi tabs and the lovely Groovi Borders Platemates!

I came across some little pieces of Groovi art I had attempted before I knew how to picot cut…and I actually don’t think they are bad at all! I mean, they’re not what we are accustomed to seeing the likes of Tina and Linda create (yep. They’re in the photo too). But hey! You’ve got to start somewhere! The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step and all that.

So over the next few days, I would like to go back and look at what I did then, perhaps try out a few tricks I have learned along the way on the same borders. And maybe if you like, I can share a few wedding photos at the same time? My darling friend Carron (beautiful woman to my left AND maid of honour AND hairdresser AND photographer!) took over 1,400 ! So I’ll just show you a few peach ones, shall I?! xxx

Anyway, let’s start with one of the actual border platemates, the holders. The Art Deco one.

Superb alphabet and numbers. Excellent for Wedding cards actually!

Here’s a simple little sample, using the box on the border :

It’s that little frame I’m interested in….

See? The initials fit perfectly. And yes. I did keep my name. Still GRAY.

I could entwine them if I thought about it a little too…

There are also some lovely swirls and flourishes on the same border plate. See? So I can really go to town on that little monogram box if I choose to.

That’s all I wanted to show you. We miss so much when we are whizzing through, don’t we?

Let’s have a little bloggy Weekend Bonanza on the Borders and Platemates, shall we? Yes. Let’s do that. And let’s take a closer look at all the loveliness on those plates. I’d better warn Big Brother Steve – he who makes said Borders….(and yes, he’s in the photo above too – of course!)

We’re a pretty tightknit gang, aren’t we? I like it like that. It feels safe.

Love and hugs,

Barb

  1. How lovely to see your photos Barbara. Thank you for sharing your special day with us. You all looked lovely and so very happy. x

  2. Lovrely photos great to see some pics. You all look so dashing in your finest. Great sale on groovi borders, gosh I remember running out to the local shop to get some magic tape to stick borders together! I’m sure they must have noticed the sudden demand for rolls of it. How time flies. Xx

  3. Evening bloggy friends, hope everyone is well. Just getting my crafty bits together to take with me on holiday to Wales on Saturday. Can’t wait to see the mountains of Snowdonia again. Xx

    1. Hi Donna,
Oh, I love Wales! Dave and I spent every summer holiday near Pembroke (West Wales) for 10 years. We had 5 weeks of peace every year in our caravan! Surprisingly, there was only one year when we had bad weather in all that time. We are going back there in a few weeks time for a week but staying in a hotel. I did my outdoor pursuits course at College in Snowdonia and it poured down every day apart from one and on that day I ended up soaking wet as my canoe capsized! Lots of happy memories though. Have a brilliant time. Love and hugs Alison xxx

  4. You know….maybe it’s because every time you see your ‘family’ that you keep returning to your work head. Thank you for sharing the pix – it’s lovely to see how you go on! Hello to my mate Dave.
I’m working out if it is worth my joining one of your Clubs as I seem to have bought quite a bit of Clarity over the last 12 months – I will have a chat to one of your team at Leyburn.
Also, watched ‘The Entertainer’ last week, does everyone tell you how like Miriam Karlin you are?
    Love
Maggie (Yorkite) – the ONLY Maggie.

      1. Maggie, do join the Clubs. It is great to get your envelope every month with the step by step instructions to inspire you and the best bit is the letter from Barbara brining us up to date on all the Clarity news. Not to mention the discount on the website and the members sale that also make it worth while.

  5. Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos. You all look so happy and it must have been a joyful day.
I love my border plates and of course, the plate mate. I was lucky that it was available when I started Groovi, so I didn’t have to struggle with tape!
Don’t forget to open the kitchen to feed yourself! Annette X

  6. Lovely photos and always glad to see some more! Hats and flowers are beautiful – what a talented bunch! As for Groovi borders —- I dread to look as I think I have most of them and haven’t used them all either LOL !! Xx

  7. Thank you for sharing your wedding photos. You all looked great. Looking forward to seeing more over the next few days.
Borders……..checked my stash, only need 1 to complete the collection of those I need and guess what, it’s not in the sale!!! Oh well, such is life.
It’s much cooler here today and I have been catching up on my parchment craft before it gets too hot again.
Can’t wait to see what surprises Dave & Jim have in store for us.
    Have a good evening.

  8. Hello Barbara – how lovely to see your wedding pictures. You really did look radiant. A private peek – thank you for sharing. Like you, I have been busy with other crafting projects. I’d forgotten some of the lovely little elements on the plate. Really will have to make more time for my groovi, life just seems to get in the way at the moment. Have a good trip, lots of love Donna X

  9. Beautiful photos, the dresses look fabulous. I only have one border plate so I’d better go and look at the website xx

  10. Have just been reading the lovely replies to Barbara’s blog. The lady who is wondering about joining one of the Clubs – it is so worth doing. I do all sorts of crafts but have never been a stamper until Barbara inspired me to do it. So I joined the club 8 months ago. Every month you get your stamp and a wonderful little booklet with two projects. This club has taught me so much and the courage to try different things. I’ve definitely grown in confidence but it has come with practice, even stamping on parchment now, as taught by Barbara. Hope this encourages you to join. with love Donna X

  11. Hi Barb,
Thank you for sharing those wonderful, happy photos of such a special day. Everyone looks gorgeous and ( even the men!) and you are positively glowing. I love the border plates – my favourites are the two art nouveau ones. It’s a bit worrying that I have all of the plates in the sale! I remember the days of using cellotape to fix the borders to the plate mate. Oh how things change in such a short time. Can’t wait to hear what Dave and Jim are doing. Love and hugs Alison xxxx

  12. Loving the photos they sure are amazing what wonderful memories shared in them it looks a magical day. Looking forward to seeing more photos do love looking at photos. I will know pop over look at the groovi sale gettingback into it . Hope you have a lovely peaceful evening xxx

  13. I will never grow tired of looking at your wonderful happy faces and beautiful outfits from your special day 💖❤️❤️💙.

That’s what I love about Groovi (well, one of the things anyway!) you can create something beautiful and intricate out of something that looks so small and simple. I am looking forward to getting loads of practice in (to keep my mind occupied!) when Samuel goes to college

    Rxxx

  14. Hi Barbara
WOW, you photos are stunning. I love your dress, so elegant. Do you have a favourite photo of you and Dave? I suppose with 1400 to look through, that is going to be a hard choice. Thank you for allowing us all a little peek into your private life, you have a wonderful way of making us feel like part of your extended family too.
I love your Groovi demo, showing us different ways to use all those little swirls and flourishes, and helping us to actually see what we have on our plates.
    Thank you
    Love & Hugs
    Xxxxxxx

  15. Loved looking at your photos you all look so happy and beautiful, borders are lovely too, love the frame with the swirls. Wishing you a very happy and healthy future.

  16. Greetings from a very hot, Georgia , USA,
Great photos Barb , of our beautiful day…
Don’t work to hard , whilst I am away,
I’ll soon be back, in fact on Monday ! x

  17. I have to admit here to a modest amount of bias when I look at the beautiful wedding photos, Barbara. Your mate, Rebecca, who created the flowers (totally hand cut with scissors and blade) is my clever, talented daughter. Anyone debating whether to join a Clarity Club, just go for it. You will get so much from your membership. And (should never start a sentence with “and” or “but”) the border plates have so much to offer everyone. xxx Maggie (Silvercrafter)

  18. Fab photos, happiness radiates from everyone’s faces which just goes to show how special a day it was for you all! Look forward to seeing more as you share your happiness with us.

Have checked the border sale and find that I do indeed have them all, oops don’t tell my other half – lol! Bargains to be had for those who need them tho’…

    1. Oops….I fibbed, have just looked again and spotted a few I’ve not got! Sadly they’ll have to wait as have spent my crafting allowance for this month…. doh! xx

  20. Hi Barbara beatiful photons everyone looked smart and happy.we have been to Port Lympne many times as we have a static caravan very close it is a lovely day out.
As for Groovi, we had our daughter in law and grandchildren down for a few days I got my Groovi our, I couldn’t believe how my daughter in law picked out different parts of the plates as it was the first time she had ever done Groovi and I hadn’t even told her about using different plates.
    Mary x

  21. Lovely, lovely photos, thanks for sharing a little bit of your special day.
I’m very lucky I have most of the border plates but I best go and double check lol.
Hope you’re having a lovely day xx

HAPPY LIFE TO YOU BOTH WITH WONDERFUL MEMORIES ❤❤😘XX

  23. Haven’t done any crafting for the last three weeks as I’ve just got back from a family holiday in Valencia, but I have to say I do love the border plates. I’ve collected them all as they came out, you can always find a perfect complement to your design on one of them.
The wedding photos are gorgeous and it’s lovely to see a full length picture of your dress. Looking forward to seeing some more.xx

  24. You all look so happy in the photos and so beautiful because of that! I’d be delighted to see more of your wedding album, so thank you for sharing your special day with us all. x
