Life is the dancer…

Life is the dancer…

Hi there.

Thanks for popping in.

I stepped away from doing what I ought to be doing today – and did what I want to do.

I stepped away from doing what is expected of me – and did what makes me happy.

I left work where it belongs :  in tomorrow –  and focussed on today. And there I found a very wonderful place, free of noise.

I spent 2 hours listening to Eckhart Tolle, on the subject of Nothing. Then I spent 3 hours playing. I stayed with my hands. I ignored the thoughts which came galloping in, to rob me of my Sunday. I let them simply drift by, like clouds.

Here is the artwork I made, doing Nothing. I like it a lot.

Life is the dancer, and you are the dance.

I am going to make a cup of tea and think about that. Care to join me?

Love always,

Barb

  1. Your favourite stencil I think. Glad you had a good day doing nothing but what you wanted to do. I think I’ve done the same but not quite the same result as you ! X

  2. Absolutely beautiful Barbara. I am so pleased you found time to chill and do what you love. When you get time a step by step would be lovely. I do enjoy your blog and that you find time to say hello to us every day. Don’t forget to find time for you.
A big hug from Chris X

  4. Beautiful artwork Barbara, so pleased you took time for you – it is so important to find some “me time” in our busy lives. Enjoy the rest of your evening.

  5. Beautiful, a day to yourself to craft away & enjoy the journey. Should be an essential part of everyone’s week but sadly it doesn’t always happen x

  6. Good for you finishing your peaceful week of perfectly. Loving your art work hope rest of day goes as peaceful . Love hugs Joy x

  7. I also love your artwork and that gorgeous stencil, that was the stamp equivalent that I used on my candle as mentioned yesterday. So glad you relaxed doing exactly what you wanted to do, not what you had to. Live & hugs Pam xxx

  8. Hi bloggy friends, hope you have had a good day doing exactly what you wanted to do as Barbara did. I have. We went out to a garden centre for lunch then I’ve been doing a jigsaw. Its made a complete change and of course it’ll take a while to finish as its 1000 pieces. Wont tell you what time I got to bed this morning. Love & hugs Pam xxx

    1. Hi Pam – that sounds like a lovely day! Gosh I haven’t done a jigsaw for years and years. Lots of love and hugs, Gilly xxx

    1. Hi bloggy friends – we have had some (much needed) rain over the last couple of days. The garden is very pleased and our new plants have lifted their heads up and seem to be smiling!
I have serviced my Mum’s Singer sewing machine (c. 1963 – one of the first to do embroidery) today, cleaning and oiling where needed and although it hasn’t been used for many years – it works! Very satisfying. Love and hugs to you all, Gilly xxx

  9. That is beautiful Barbara. What a great way to spend a day.
As it was cooler today, I cooked a roast for the first time in a couple of months and very nice it was too. A change from ‘something and salad’ every day!
Hope you are reaping the benefits of a relaxing week. Annette X

  10. What a beautiful piece of art, Barbara. So glad you took time to do exactly what you wanted to and you have a lovely reminder of time well spent, x

  11. I love that you listened to the voice in your soul, rather than the voice in your head. It shows through in that beautiful and yet peaceful piece of art. x

  12. Hi Barb, wow, what beautiful artwork. I’m glad you actually had some ‘me’ time. You need to recharge every so often. Love and hugs,

  13. Hi Barbara
What a stunning piece of artwork. Your heart really has some beautiful things in it.
    Enjoy your tea.
    Love & Hugs

  14. This is gorgeous Barbara and the more so because you wanted to do it so you did, and a Suday should be a day for thoughts and creativity if that is what you so desire. Hope the rest of your day has been relaxing. x

  15. Hi Barbara
Isn’t this lovely, all the more so because you spent time you wanted to spend creating it. It’s so easy to get drawn into the everyday stuff of cleaning washing and ironing when your heart really wants to just play. What lovely words too.
    Love Diane xxx

  16. Hello Barb, now that is just a stunning piece of art, that would look amazing in a frame on the wall. You now have my creative juices going. Take care all. Bx
