All in a day’s work? NOT!!!

All in a day’s work? NOT!!!

Hi there.
Thanks for joining me on this overcast, cloudy day.
Just ticking a few boxes for the TV shows on HOCHANDA tomorrow. Demo Boxes packed, tick. Art samples packed, tick.
Producer notes written and photocopied, tick.
That’s another little hidden job which always needs doing, you see.
When I do a demo, I list absolutely everything I am going to use, including product codes. I write down what I’m going to do, how long it’s going to take, which demos and in what order.
The producers have to jump from one show to the next, and there is very little time for them to prepare. So it’s in my interest and theirs, and it helps the overall flow of the show if the producer has a ready tailored list of what to go to and what to flag up. I have always done this, right from the first TV show on Create & Craft! I think it started as a prop for me, so I knew what I was doing! Like a Linus blanket. And it seemed to make the TV team very happy too, so it’s par for the course nowadays.
The weather’s not great is it? Which is pants for the nation, but at least more people will be indoors and watching (I hope!!)
Remember the beautiful Groovi Rounds which Rosie launched recently? Well, due to popular demand – here they are as stamps.
And not just any old stamps. These are the superb super fineline Claritystamps we have reently developed.
You now get the ultra-fine line and intricate detail of a red rubber stamp, but with the added transparency factor. Bingo!!
What a joy to use these stamps are.
They are available as trios, too.
We have the fairies…
the California Landscapes…

…and the perfect for mens’ cards Boating trio

All illustrated by our clever Mel Turner, who is just brilliant.
Here are a few lovely art samples which have been created by the Clever Clarity Team:
Dee Paramour

Jane Telford
Barbara Lancaster

Janet Pring

Linda Spencer

Sheelagh Metselaar

Carole Panksztelo
Thank you, lovely team!
What a lot of time and work you put into these art pieces!
The whole TV process is very, very time consuming. So much effort goes into one show! From conceptualization, to planning, to design, to production, to marketing – it is massive actually. It’s all about communication too. I am involved in the first instance, ie. what we’re doing when. And then I pretty much hand over the TV reins to the various departments, and they run with the plan. Just once a month I do a little dance on the telly, but the rest is out of my hands. There’s a whole Clarity Cabaret nowadays!
So I shall say it one more time:
Teamwork makes the dream work.
Time to go and pack my outfit.
Love & Hugs,
Barb

  1. Oh now I like those! Especially the blokey ones – always struggle for mens cards do these would be ideal. I shall add them to my wish list which is now even longer after my Egghunt!! 😉😉😉 Have a fab show tomorrow I shall be watching!! Xxx

  2. A really grey damp day here, just right for staying indoors & crafting !! What to do first is the big question, try the peacock stamps or more with the plates, or dive into all the other plates & try out some of the ideas seen on Facebook or dig the gel plate & alcohol inks out. Decisions, decisions !! The design team have come up trumps again with some wonderful pieces. Looking forward to the shows tomorrow & Monday. Hope you can now have a relaxing day ready for tomorrow.

  3. Well the trio for the men will certainly be on my list, which has grown considerably in the last 24 hours. Wonder why? Your shows are always fabulous and I have tomorrow planned so that I can indulge myself and watch. Oh and buy. Thanks for the Easter competition certainly got everyone chatting about the search. X X

  4. I’ve gone way back today and started doing a slice of cake! We have a wedding to go to on 14 April so I thought I’d try it out – about time I think since I’ve had it since it came out and when was that ?!

Have a good show. I’m still hunting for that last egg, found the ninth while going through the site for the umpteenth time while in bed ! Xx

  5. It just goes to show how none of us realise what is involved with every tv appearance Barbara and all your planning obviously pays off as your shows are always seamless and run like clockwork, and the sell outs come thick and fast…lol. Looking forward to the shows and all the ckrcular stamps are fantastic. x

  6. yes like you say Barbara team work makes the dream work. However you are the team leader and you inspire and lead the team. You all have different skills and talents and that makes the dream. Have a safe journey and I look forward to watching the shows. xx

  7. As ever wonderful blog. Enjoy your evening with family and friends. Really looking forward to tomorrows shows. Propped up in bed watching re-runs. I am sure tomorrow's programmes will set me on the road to recovery. I have to be fit for Ali Pali as it is always my birthday treat. not giving away the grand age – although I feel like 90+! today.
You have everything "cracked" for your Easter Show!
    Lots of love

  8. Has anyone found the elusive 10th egg as I have been through the whole site 4 times and not found it? I have found lots of things I would like though! Clever ploy Barbara 🙂

  9. Well, personally, I still love your shows, you are far and above the best demonstrator to watch and listen to – the David Attenborough of crafting. I still remember years ago when I first accidentally saw a show and was inspired to take up stamping. Plus you always look fabulous. Happy Easter 💐

  10. Hi Barbara – it doesn't surprise me at all, to hear just how much work goes into a tv programme. I also love the way that you talk to the camera man and gently instruct him how to capture the image for us to see. Everything looks amazing – I am sure that it will go down really well. I hope that the 4 of you enjoy your time together in the hotel. Love and hugs, Gilly xxx

    1. Hi bloggy friends – sorry that I haven't commented on here for a while. I have just been so worried about Neill. He finally saw our GP last Thursday (10 days after feeling so ill & also after a night in A & E). The GP apologised to Neill for how he had been treated & he has changed his medication too. There had been no change on how he was feeling until first thing this morning – when he felt a lot better. Unfortunately, he has gone downhill a bit since then, but still not as bad as before. I hope that you are all as well as can be. Love and hugs, Gilly xxx

    2. Oh Gilly, I'm so sorry to hear how poorly Neill has been – you must have been worried sick. I hope this new medication kicks in soon. It's disgraceful that he wasn't seen earlier , no wonder the GP apologised. Please pass on my love to Neill and I'm sending you both lots of healing hugs and love. Take good care of yourself too, love Alison xxxx

  11. Hi Barbara
Wow there's a lot more to this appearing on telly lark than we know about isn't there. I bet they love having you on as you are so organised and professional. I'm sure there are people who just turn up! The new stamps are beautiful and the samples are wonderful. Well done team. Have a safe journey.
    Love Diane xxx

  12. Hi Barb,
Gosh! I never realised what was involved in doing a show. I bet the producers at Hochanda love you for giving them so much information and help – just goes to show what a consummate professional you are. Really love these new fine line stamps, they are so detailed. I'm sure that these will fly out of the door too. Have a safe journey and enjoy your stay in your posh hotel. Love and hugs, Alison xxx

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Hope you're all enjoying the long weekend even though the weather is pretty awful. Really looking forward to the shows tomorrow although I'm not sure I can afford the stamps and the new plates as well. Sending love and hugs to you all, Alison xxxx

  13. I'm sure all your hard work and preparation will be appreciated. I have the recorder set for your shows. Sorry you've had a grey day – we've had a fabulous day up here, except for a little sleet shower during the morning. Those samples are just beautiful and the stamp collections look fab. x

  14. It must be very daunting doing tv shows, everything you do though is so organised that it goes like clockwork. Looking forward to watching the shows tomorrow and Monday. Safe journey there and back to you all. Sadly I can't be at Ally Pally this time as all the family are descending on us for my nieces 30th wedding anniversary. Just have to manage with putting an order in or I'll have withdrawal symptoms. Love and hugs Pam xxx

  15. Hi bloggy friends the new stamps look fabulous don't they, ideal for the men's cards. My wish list is getting much longer just have to get an order in. Have a good eastertime everyone. Love and hugs Pam xxx

  16. Hello Barb, you and the Clarity family/team are just awesome. Looking forward to the shows today and tomorrow. More stamps, they are superb and the artwork from the DT is just beautiful.Safe travels. Take care all. Bx

  17. Hi Barbara
    Loved the show.

My favourites have to be the rowing boats or the dinghy. My Dad has Dementia but as a young man he used to row. As a young girl we both used to sail and it brought back happy memories. I got lots of inspiration for his birthday card.

    Thanks Sue

  18. What a lot goes on behind the scenes that we didnt know about – it always looks so effortless when you are on our screens! – the sign of a true professional I say. The new round stamps are a "must have" which I shall most surely order (or buy at Ally Pally next weekend!!!). Happy Easter to all……

  19. Finally had a look for the eggs, now I wish I hadn't as I can only find nine and it's driving me mad!!I've looked and looked and just can't find that tenth one.The shows were great and I love the stamps.xx
