Yesterday’s Winter Solstice and Blog Candy.

Yesterday’s Winter Solstice and Blog Candy.

Hi there.
Thanks for joining me.
Ventured out at lunchtime to collect Mark from Gatwick.
Traffic’s pretty dense round these parts!
But no sooner had I parked and run to Arrivals than he landed,
the beautiful boy.
He’s very handsome, you know. You can see the girls checking him out! Tall, with a year round tan and tasty!
So we had a good old catch up on the way home.
Then I left him to unpack and chill, and came away to do some artwork, unwind, and chat to you.
I wanted to conjure up the Winter Solstice.
I know it was yesterday, midwinter, the longest night of the year.
But that means that already today, the days are getting longer again, and we are moving towards the summer….
A step by step?
Well I did take photos, and I could show you now.
But I really must go back indoors and rustle up a homecoming meal.

So how about You tell me?
You get a point for every correct ingredient you name.
And you get a point for every step you get right.
The person with the most points will receive a £20 Clarity gift voucher from me as soon as I go back to the office,

I know. It’s a hard one! Easy once you know how though!
Ok. Let me give you this pic of the background.
Does that help?

I will post the steps and announce a winner next Friday. There. You’ve got a week!

Tomorrow Gracie lands. 7am Heathrow.
Very Excited ! Me, that is!
I do wish they lived not quite so far away, but they do come home every chance they get, don’t they x

Must dash.
Love & Hugs,
Barb

  1. Oh blimey ! I’ll think about it ! Glad Mark arrive safely, the traffic in Oxford is similar. I know what you mean about him being checked out – I’ve seen it when out with the stepsons and my nephew it’s quit funny !

  2. I get to pick my two up in a wee while from the train station, so I too will have mine home for Christmas. I am thankful I can go and see them easily enough as they are on!y an hour away. I better vet on and make dinner before I need to be mum taxi! Mi d you I am only making Mac cheese!

  3. Sorry not even up to trying but its really ethereal. Just found another use for Clarity stencils. Pushed the snowflake stencils around the edge of the Christmas cake. We know they are there and had fun doing it. Now got to clean the kitchen floor of royal icing! Enjoy Christmas with the family.
Happy Christmas to everyone out there.

  4. I have no idea what you did but it’s gorgeous. Had two of my grandsons here this afternoon and we made peppermint creams and made boxes to put them in as gifts for their mum and dad and their other grandma and great gran. Good fun and one very sticky kitchen table!

  6. Ooh, I am excited for you. Having lived overseas for many years and now having my daughter and family in Canada, I know how it feels to pick them up from the airport. I have had quite a few tearful moments today, watching those scenes on TV. I bet you won’t have to set the alarm to get up in time to pick Grace up tomorrow.
Have a wonderful time with all your family tomorrow. I have a visit to Santa with my granddaughter tomorrow and the lantomon Sunday, so a fun weekend ahead.
    Best wishes everyone. Annette X

  7. Hi Barb,
One down and one to go – bet you are so pleased to have Mark home & Grace tomorrow. Not sure how you did this artwork but it is gorgeous. Will have to see if I can get my brain into gear tomorrow. Had a strange day today – faced the heaving crowds in Sainsbury's, managed to knocked a bottle of red wine off the kitchen counter and ended up with red wine all over the white floor! Fortunately it hasn't stained. Made a pavlova base but not sure if it's ok, never having made one before. On a good note though, my Groovi Go bag and Pergamano tool caddy arrived today – brilliant & thank you. Love and hugs Alison xxx

  8. Hiya Barbara…. I bet you're super excited now about Christmas! And tomorrow you'll have your family complete… How lovely for you!
You've got my mind whirring now thinking how that was done! I think I've sussed part of it!…. Time will tell!
    Hope Grace lands on time!
    Love and hugs xxx

  9. It is very late and my brain is too numb tonight to suss out your artwork, it is very pretty though. So pleased for you that Mark is home and Grace expected quite soon too. I know you will all have a wonderful Christmas together. x

  10. Hi Barbara
This is gorgeous but I need a bit of time and a closer look to try and work it out. I know one stamp is sat in a box next to hubby's chair waiting to be released on Christmas Day! Glad mark is home safe and sound and by now you will be on the way home with Grace. Have a wonderful day with them both.
    Love Diane xxx
