Bittathisbittathat…and a Creative Fix

Bittathisbittathat…and a Creative Fix

Hi there.
Thanks for joining me.
No I know that Wednesday is usually the day we do some soul searching, but to be frank, I need a creative fix!
(Who’s Frank?)
Have you made all your Christmas cards yet?
Yes? Well, Good For You!!
Ask me whether I have. Go on, I dare you ….
But rather than get into a spin, I decided to kick back and enjoy the day ahead.
One card is better than no cards, so here’s a start!
When I got home from our jolly – not so jolly in Cally – on the Continent, Dave had put up the old sign I found in an antique shop in Lewes….
Hanging in the porch window.
See it?
Totally reminded me of the Ribbon Stamp we have.
Merry Christmas
So here’s a step by step using the fab sentiment stamp and those lovely stamps from Linda Williams, with the winter scene and the robins.
Christmas Carol 2 – Reindeer & Robins

Ready? Here goes.

Lay a tag down on a piece of white stencil card and stamp across it in black

See?

Have I got a plan? Do I know what I’m doing?
About as much as the French did yesterday at the Eurotunnel.
I want to use a piece of the Designer parchment, I know that much!
This is the front of the parchment facing up. The more muted side.

Colour in the lettering with blue and white Pergaliner pencils
Stamp across the tag and the parchment.

Mmmm. Add a tree? Or two?

Let’s emboss the parchment on the pink Excellent mat, using the smaller Pergamano embossing tools. Good bundle.
Tag next.
The brushes are brilliant for adding a subtle edge.

Now for the frame on the parchment.
The Nested Squares Extension ABC Frame is a must have.

Add a pattern from Tina’s Straight Grid Border No. 2.
Piece of cake this is!!

Overlay the tag, so that it all lines up.
Add a matching ribbon, and mount on the same
Rainbow River paper.

Lots of little details.

Enjoyed making this.

But now I must dash.
I am torn between being a crafter and blogging,
and running a business.
But there you go! I’ve had my crafty fix for one day.
Love & Hugs,
Barb

    1. I hope everyone is as well as they can be. It's a bit warmer here today.
I've just finished a Groovi card based on Tina's with snipping and layering. It's not perfect but I'm pleased with it and will use it. I am now tidying everything away ready for our holiday with the family as we are off in a few days xx

  1. Wonderful. I still have a few cards to finish I have not got the ribbon stamp but do have Linda's stamps, have used them quite a lot. Just caught upon the blog from yesterday, certainly was pickle. Right a bit of present wrapping for me now and then this evening a school carol concert in the church. xx

  2. Lovely as ever (and also 'do-able' with the Happy Birthday ribbon words)

Hope you and Dave have a lovely Christmas (is it me or is it getting sooner every year?)

    Love

    Maggie (Yorkite)

  3. A beautifully designed and made card as usual from you Barbara and love the way the design flows from the parchment and through the tag and the shading of the colouring and the white embossing is gorgeous. I actully tried using an embossing folder with some parchment the other day and also used gilding wax on it to bring out the design and it worked really well, so will be using it more in the future as it is obviously infinitely usable. Hope you have got over your tiresome journey now, it certainly hasn't sapped your creativity..lol. x

  4. Clever technique, and well done for getting one of your cards done. If I were in your shoes I'd be raiding the sample boxes by now! Just going to watch Maria's shows now with a cup of hot chocolate – we crafters know how to live, eh? x

  5. Hi Barb,
Not surprised you wanted yo be crafting after your travel ordeal yesterday. I love what you have created today. Love and hugs to you and Dave,
    Alison xx

  6. Hi Barb – glad you're safely home from your trip with Mama and thanks for taking time out to inspire us with one of your creations – much appreciated. And, yes – I have finished and delivered or sent my cards for this year (she says smugly!!!) but then I don't have a business to run!

  7. A beautiful creation again today Barbara, love that Happy Birthday stamp, so useful. Yes all cards made but must admit only made half of the ones I send this year as have been sewing rather a lot. Mostly all posted off, well as a retiree got much more time than you have, so no excuses, have I. Hope you have had a relaxing evening to get over your long journey yesterday.xxx

  8. Hello Barb, what a lovely creation, the ideas you come up with always amaze me. Love your Christmas sign. I wish I had all my cards done, hey ho, hopefully get them all out by Monday. Take care all. Bx

  9. Don't worry, Barb – I'm way behind on my Christmas cards, too! Missed a whole week (well, evenings, anyway) of crafting 'cause I had carpal tunnel – too painful for anything!! So, I daresay I shall be burning the midnight oil & beyond to get them all done! T'was ever this way…..

Gorgeous card, by the way 🙂
    take it easy,

    Liz M xxx

  10. Lovely card as usual. I am on the train to London at the beginning of my trip to Canada. My groovi is with me, going to use some time to try pricking etc while the family is off skiing. You sound to have had a rough time on your journey home, glad you got back safely. Xxxxx
