Shelagh Metselaar and a Moment in Blue

Shelagh Metselaar and a Moment in Blue

Hi there.
Thanks for popping in.
We’ve been prepping for the Sunday/Monday TV Shows all day.
I do love ticking those boxes!
The new Christmas Outline Stamps are delightful to work with; I was especially pleased with the Snow Globe demo I did for the One Day Speical 6pm launch on Sunday.
It’s all about making the snowglobe look round….
Anyway, I have some very VERY good news.
For years I have been asking the hugely unique and talented Shelagh Metselaar from Scotland to join our Clarity Design Team, but she has had a lot going on in her life, and has never been able to commit properly. Recently I gently bent her arm again at the retreat, and she finally said yes. Hallelujah!
Here then is a sample of her Blue Collection,
which she rustled up for this weekend’s TV, using the original Five Outline stamps plus their masks to great effect.
And since Thursday’s blog is always blue, I though it would be a perfect opportunity to introduce you to Shelagh, whet your appetities with what’s coming up on Sunday/Monday on telly,
and offer you some wonderful blue inspiration all at the same time.
Wowee.
Let’s take a closer look, shall we?
Here we have the Stag outline stamp in Jayne’s Postcard frame,
with our Clarity Deerscape stamp inside.

This beauty shows off a selection of our lovely Garden stamps inside the bird.
Isn’t it super?
The Three Wise men which Shelagh has used here are included in miniature inside one of the Christmas sets – I think it’s the candle…

And here, she has dropped one of Jayne Nestorenko’s Winter Scenes into the leaf.
Doesn’t that just look fantastic?

Now if I had to pick a favourite, it would have to be the fairies with the fairy lights here!

Blimming ingenious!
The fairy lights come from another Outline set:
Finally, the tree Copse outline with the larger Nativity scene inside. Perfect.

Yes, I am very happy – as you can imagine – to welcome Shelagh to the team.
She and I have been friends for years. She is a formidable character, well travelled, very interesting woman.
Also incredibly thoughtful and generous.
Yes. I like her very much,
and I am excited for you to know her art work better.
Love & Hugs,
Barb

  1. I was delighted to sit next to Shelagh at the retreat I attended a couple of years ago. She was very patient with me as a newbie and I can't wait to see more of her lovely creations. Congratulations Shelagh!

  2. Congratulations Shelagh sure you are going to love being on the clarity team. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work . Things are really coming together for you Barbara so pleasedxxx

  3. Gorgeous samples, I would find it difficult to pick a favourite. I love the idea of doing so many cards using just one colour and blue is a lovely colour for a Christmas theme xx

  4. I am so pleased you managed to persuade her to join your team. I have admired Shelagh's work for a long time and through your retreats we have become friends. I love the cards and it shows how versatile these stamps are. Well done Shelagh. X

  5. Many thanks Barbara and also to everyone for all the complimentary comments and welcoming messages. I'm now just a little bit terrified but not so much as the internet provider rep will be tomorrow – our usual generally reliable service has been more off than on tonight; don't suppose it's anything to do with new housing developments in the surrounding area? Thank you again and hoping fervently this will post! ;~}

  6. Hi Barb,
Wow! What a brilliant asset to the team! Congratulations to Shelagh on becoming part of the team and to you Barb for managing to persuade her! These samples are absolutely gorgeous and I truly am looking forward to seeing more of Shelagh's work. I think the Nativity and the leaf ones are my favourites if I had to choose, but they are all stunning and would be a joy to receive. Fabulous! Love and hugs Alison xxx

  11. Fab artwork…wish my attempts using the outline stamps were half as good, but they're improving! Looking forward to getting to know you and seeing more of your lovely artwork in the future Shelagh. Xx

  12. Hello Barb, what a great result after twisting Shelagh's arm. She is a very talented lady, these examples are stunning. Really looking forward to the shows and to all future inspiration from Shelagh. Take care all. Bx

  13. Oh Wow, I have long been a fan of Shelagh's work, spotted her in many a magazine article, but I have to say, these blue designs are out of this world. I rarely work in blue, cant get the contrasts right, this will make me go and try again. Welcome Shelagh, look forward to more lovely designs from you.

  14. What talent and what imagination you have, Shelagh. Congratulations on being brave enough to take the plunge (not into the unknown, as it's with Clarity) by seizing the opportunity as it comes along – trust Barbara to give you the necessary nudge at the right time. Here's to your future success and lots of it!

    1. Thank you very much. Nudge at the right time? Not quite sure as the kitchen emptying has begun for the refurb beginning Monday. Lost my 'wet work' space and will be cooking in the utility!!! Could lead to some interesting work! ;~}
