All I need is Bleeding Tissue!

All I need is Bleeding Tissue!

Hi there.
Thanks for popping in.
Just a quickie here.
Today is spring-cleaning day at home.
Took me ages to squeeze back into my outfit!
It’s been a while….
But better late that never.
I noticed just HOW MUCH dust was gathering when the sun shone through the window today, (window cleaner must have been yesterday), and decided TODAY WAS THE DAY.
While I’m in the mood for cleaning.
Which will be very shortlived.
In fact, I can feel the enthusiasm waining as I write…
Sarah Brennan kindly reminded me of a very cool technique using tissue which bleeds, so I thought I would just use one colour, and rip-tear it to get a rip-torn background….
Tear it, lay it down and wet it with water.
(spritz it or paint it with a brush).
What kind of card? Pretty much any surface will take the stain off tissue; I went with our coated A6 Clarity Card.

Leave it to air dry for 10 minutes.
Peel off tissue and bin.
Leave to dry.
This fab Funky Foliage Stampset is in the Member’s half-price Summer Sale, which ends on 31st July.

It’s a superb set, illustrated by our Melanie.
Here’s a Club Stamp too. Use it as a base for the leaves.
Cor! Perfect Positioning, or what?!
I forget sometimes who invented transparent artstamps.
Imagine that. It’s so obvious really.
So glad I had a moment of Clarity…

follow your dreams
Mounted on black glossy card. Done.
Our black coated stock is white on the back.

Simple, quick and arty.
Love how the light hits it.

No dust here!
Which reminds me, I really ought to get going;
this corset is starting to pinch!

Love & Hugs,
Barb

  1. Super card but Pete was more interested in your outfit. Must try this one (the card not the outfit) have the stamps but not the words, could use one of the word chain ones though. What'should a bit of dust between friends. Your art is more important.xxx

  2. Oh you did give me a giggle with that outfit! Love the affect you got from the torn tissue. Fab stamps too. Now must go as you've made me notice the dust on the mantlepiece. Have fun in your outfit! Xx

  3. Love your cleaning outfit..youre welcome to come and clean anytime you like the groovi glitter is quite deep at mine. Love the card. O e of my fave stamps xx

  4. Oh you did give me a giggle with that outfit! Love the affect you got from the torn tissue. Fab stamps too. Now must go as you've made me notice the dust on the mantlepiece. Have fun in your outfit! Xx

  5. Love the outfit. Hope Dave has one to match! Who'd have thought you could make such a lovely background with a piece of bleeding tissue? 🙂

  6. love this idea & will try it out with the grandchildren next week. They love getting messy & making cards etc. We made some inky background papers by dipping folded kitchen towel into different colours yesterday. They are now dry ready to use when they come next. Dusting ? is that a new thing ? not done unless necessary in this house !! not enough hours in the day.

  7. I love bleeding art tissue – so bright and super easy to use, but don't drop the wet tissue on your carpet, as it stains! Ask how I know that (if you dare)!!! x

  8. Hi Barbara
No chance of sunlight showing up the dust here today it's been pouring with rain most of the day and I have to add I dusted earlier this week 😇, yep sun shine showed how thick it was here too!! The outfit is a hoot. I'd forgotten about the wet tissue, it makes a great background doesn't it, I've got a pack of it somewhere so I must have a play. I made a card this week and carefully spelt out follow your dreams using the letterbox squares and letters, was quite pleased with myself, now why didn't I remember I had it ready made in a stamp- silly me. Enjoy the rest of your weekend
    Love Diane xxx

  9. I've been blitzing the house today too. Family went and more visitors tomorrow I wouldn't want to run a guest house on a regular basis. Must order last minute bits between visitors and before the sale ends!

  10. Hi Barb,
Fabulous technique – not seen that before. Is it a special tissue or can you use any? Love the funky foliage stamp set. I've used it loads of times -great for pesky male cards! Watch out for Dave – i think he's got designs of his own on his mind! Love and hugs Alison xx

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Hope you've all had as good a day as possible and that the weather has been kind. Donna, hope Phoebe has lost her sparkle! It took nearly a week for poor Scamp to be gilding flake free when she got covered a while ago! Had a very lazy day today although Barb has shamef me into doing some hhousework tomorrow! Love and hugs Alison xx

  11. Haaa, haaa, love the outfit! If it helps the boring chores go faster then you should lend it out. Love the tissue technique, only have some white at the moment so not sure that would work, will have to get some coloured sheets next trip to town. Xx

  12. Evening bloggy friends, hope everyone had a dryer day than here. Apart from a haircut I have been having a quiet day. My turn to do the dreaded cleaning next week…Barbara can I borrow the outfit? Xx

  13. I'm trying to decide whether wearing an outfit like that would make housework more interesting or not, to the person themselves I mean, not their other halves…lol. I love that bleeding tissue and the arty stamps over the top Barbara, a lovely effect. I nearly bought of that tissue a while ago but didn't in the end, I now think maybe I will as it looks great. x

  14. I have never seen this technique before, so must give it a try with the grandchildren. Talking of which, we had the builder in earlier this week, to fit a cupboard in her bedroom. He did a great job and all the sawing, planing etc was done outside in the driveway, but the DUST! It got into every nook and cranny and on every surface in th house. It must have also been embedded in the fence wood, house bricks etc, because no matter how many times I have swept it up, it has appeared again! Even my car has been covered every day.
Enough I say! My mum would have been ashamed of me, as I only dust once a week usually and she did it every day, but in her day the Groovi system hadn't been invented, or things could have been very different!
Hope you are having a great weekend. Annette

  15. Hello Barb, what a brilliant technique, and lovely artwork created. Hope you did not have to leave the corset on too long. Have a great day all. Bx

  16. Someone else had the same question as me. Can you use any tissue paper for this technique or does it have to be a certain type?
I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to Port Lympne Barbara and Dave, but I'm so disappointed that you are not on the Serengeti today spotting the Big 5 in the brilliant sunshine. Doing the dusting doesn't really compare does it? I must get my Masai warrior out later and have a play with him. He was always my favourite, along with my Native American. Those Clarity men are wonderful, they just never age xx
