On closer inspection….

On closer inspection….

Hi there.
Thanks for joining me here in this hotel room in New York.
Great view!
Let’s move in a little closer…..
No, closer….
That’s better.
Spent the whole day in that concrete jungle yesterday.
Loved it.
I LOVE NEW YORK.
And I must say, I met so many helpful, friendly people yesterday.
Everywhere I went, folks were so cordial.
Perhaps that’s because I smile and am friendly too.
It’s like a mirror effect really, isn’t it?
I bet if I growled at people, barked at them,
and walked around with a face like a wet weekend,
it would have been different.
Walked?
Did I walk?!
I caught the train in from Astoria to Manhattan with Grace,
but then she had to go to work.
So I spent the entire day wandering, shopping, walking, people watching, ambling, shopping, drinking coffee, walking more, shopping.
#LovelyMural. #Superboutique #Myfave
It was bwilliant !!!
I definitely got my 10,000 steps in for yesterday – and today!
There’s a supermarket chain over here called Trader Joe’s.
Very cool.
But shit, the queues for the till!!!
And I wasn’t at the back by any means!!
The back was near the vegetables at the front!
They should call it the M25 at Trader Joe’s

Never complain again about the Ally Pally queues at Clarity again!
Then Gracie got off work and we had a lovely evening together, with Nick and Robert, Grace’s best friend over here.
They’ve know each other since they were nippers in California.
It’s 5 o’clock in the morning now. I am showered, dressed and ready to go to the hospital with Grace and Nick.
They are swinging by for me at 7, so I am a bit early…
Wish Grace luck.
Please send her all the positive energy you can muster.
Grace by name, Grace by nature.
Love & hugs,
Barb

  1. It's my lovely nephew's birthday today; he's a kind, compassionate, funny, gentle, musical, arty, empathetic, honest, hard-working lovely man. A police officer in Essex, former bass player in a hard rock band, and wanna-be screen printer and artist in his spare time. Sending love to Iain and Grace today in equal measure, and hope it will be a good day for them both x

  2. All the positive thoughts and love in the world are coming to you, Grace and Nick for a Happy outcome. Hope you won't be waiting to long for good news.xxx

  5. Mustering as much positive energy that I can and sending it all to Grace. It's good that Nick has you there, Barbara: the waiting can be awful on your own. Love and best wishes to you all Mxx

  6. I wish Grace all the luck in the world. We've just found out that our daughter has been in hospital in Canberra, near death with an asthma attack. Stall waiting to hear how she is. Look after yourself too! Xx

  7. Being one of your biggest fans I would have loved to have run into you in our beautiful NYC but your a very busy lady and concerned for Grace who I know will do well with all the love and support around her and the healing energy coming her way . We did 10,000 steps yesterday , went to Cooper Hewitt museum then to Times Square and the palace theater to see Glenn Close in Sunset Boulevard — the audience went crazy with applause for her , oh what an actress ! . Oh well , we are here for a few more days ,I Love NYC also and Trader Joe's is my main place in Virginia , no long lines butlove the food . I read your blog daily but don't comment much anymore seems to be a small group here that know each other and that's ok . Neverthe less I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you and your family via blogland . My clarity stash is huge of stamps only . Have a wonderful visit and hugs and kisses for Grace who I know only through a mothers loving description . Much love and prayers Jan

    1. Hi Janice,
Please don't feel that you shouldn't comment. I guess I might be one of the ones you mention about knowing each other. Believe me, I've only met 2 or 3 of the people on here and that was at the Open Days. Feel free to join in the conversations, that's what we all did! Hugs, Alison xx

  8. Hi Barbara
NY sounds amazing I send all my love and my prayers for Grace and a few for you as I know how worried you will be. Thank you for taking a bit of time to keep us informed love &hugs xx

  9. Wishing everything good for Grace today. Glad you had a lovely day yesterday Barbara and lots more great family times to come! x

  10. Beautiful thoughts to a beautiful Grace. Thought of you today – just picked some sweet peas – they are with you in thought if not in reality.
    Lots of love

  12. Hi Barbara
That's some queue you were standing in Barbara, were you pacing on the spot? Looks like you had a good day though. Your view is amazing. You are so right about smiling at people, it doesn't cost anything and you could make someone's day. There's an elderly gent who lives near us who when he sees me says there's that lovely smile, it always cheers me up, that makes my day too. I've got everything crossed for Grace today, I hope all goes well. Sending you all lots of hugs.
    Love Diane xxx

  13. Just want to tune in here , in case you are reading the messages… Grace has has the op, and it's ok. Nothing sinister, not malignant. Thank God. She is sleeping now. Thank you so much for all your love and positive energy xxxx And breathe …..

    1. So happy to hear it's over and all clear! Sleep is nature's way of healing so it'll do her good and doubtless you'll have a better sleep tonight than in the past couple of weeks. Hugs to you both xxx

    2. Hi Barb,
That is the best news I have heard all day! I am so pleased that everything is ok and know that it must be a massive relief for you, Dave, Mark,Steve, Nick, your Mum and dad and most importantly for Grace herself. The sleep will do her good. – the human body certainly is a miracle. Love and hugs to you all, Alison xxx

  14. Hi Barb,
Seems you've had a busy day – all those steps – well done you. Never been to New York or America for that matter. It always looks such a fascinating city. As I've already mentioned above, I'm so pleased that everything has turned out well – it must've been all that positive energy flowing across the Atlantic! Love and hugs, Alison xxx

  15. Everything will be fine for grace and for all the other People in the clarityteam. sometimes buses come all together on one day, but they usually depart one after the other. best wishes and take care, gisela

  16. I am sure she is so glad you were able to be there with her. Of course, it may be nothing, or even if it needs an operation it might still be nothing. I had one on my neck like that a few years ago. All clear, but I spent a week in hospital in a cancer ward with some truly ill ladies who I wondered if they would last the week I was there, and I felt rather like a fraud. Best of luck to Grace, my thoughts are with you both.

  17. Hello Barb, love the pictures, so glad that you were with Grace, and very pleased to hear that it went well. Hugs to you both, and to everyone else that needs one. Bx

  18. BRILLIANT NEWS, MUST HAVE BEEN ALL THOSE PRAYERS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS. NOW WE SEND HEALING THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS TO GET OUT OF HOSPITAL QUICKLY. SORRY FOR THE CAPS BUT I HAVE SIGHT PROBS. HUGS BARBARA XX
