Eenie meenie miney mo…..

Hi there!
Thanks for popping in.
Sun’s out, and I’ve spent all day clearing up and cleaning this pit of an artroom. Still doesn’t look very different,
but it is! Has been seriously thinned out.

Remember the other day,
I made this print with one of our new pod stencils?
special offer: 5 for 4.
And this was the copy paper scrap.
I deliberately used thin copy paper to blot,
so I could make a canvas with it.
Cut the copy paper to fit an 8” x 8” canvas board
– well, a teeny bit smaller.
I was keen to hang on to all the grungy stuff at the bottom of the print, so opted for a larger canvas.

This is a piece of cake.
Cover the whole canvas with Mod Podge.
I like Matte myself.

Lay the copy paper print onto the wet canvas board,
and use a brayer to carefully spread and flatten.
Aim of the game is to not get too many creases,
so going slowly with the brayer is prudent.

Add a coat of the same Mod Podge to the top.
Gives a lovely finish.

So we’ve got the crisp canvas,
and the mellow print with shots of yellow.
It impresses me that both pieces come from the same art process.

Which one do you prefer?
I can’t choose.
Eenie Meenie Miney Moe….
Maybe they can sit next to one another
and keep each other company.
I mean together, they make a whole, right?
And yet they can stand alone too.
Velly intelesting….
Love & Hugs,
Barb

PS Don’t forget Rosie is on Hochanda tomorrow.
Bank Holiday Weekend, bless her.
11am. 2pm. 5pm.
I shall be watching and cheering her on.

  1. Hi Barbara
Oh it's difficult to choose a favourite isn't it, I like them both and they work so well together. You would pay a fortune for them in a fancy gallery wouldn't you! Now your room must have been really cluttered if this is heaps better, but I bet you could put your hand on most things without a thought, probably not your glasses or your keys but a certain ink pad or brayer no problem! Good to see you've kept the sunshine there, we had thunderstorms in the night and the temperature has dropped right back down today. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, I'm off to put Rosie on record in case I miss her tomorrow.
    Love Diane xxx

    1. Hello lovely blog friends hope all is well and you are enjoying the weekend. No plans here so we can spend the weekend relaxing and catching up with a few jobs. If we don't mention the thing you do with charcoal and food in the garden the rain might stay away so we can enjoy it!!it was quite chilly here this morning when we went out for a swim, bit of a shock after the heat of the last few days. Enjoy the weekend xxx

  2. Hi Barb,
I love them both, but I think the one with yellow in just wins it for me. Diane is right, that you would pat a small fortune for them in a gallery. Got Rosie's shows set to record tomorrow. Really like Mod Podge too. In the middle of a thunderstorm here , the sky is very menacing and black! Love and hugs Alison xxx

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Hope today finds you well. It's been a strange day here today. This morning was sunny and red hot but muggy and the afternoon was quite fresh and thundery. We've had three storms already and probably more to come. Managed to get some of my bedding plants in ( well Dave did!) in between showers. Love and hugs to you all, Alison xxx

    2. We're down south grandson chasing this week and it's still hot. At least if it's raining up there our neighbours won't have so much watering to do
      Hugs xx

  3. I love them both, just can't decide. The weather was lovely this morning, but very hot and humid. Then it suddenly went quite windy, the grey clouds rolled in, and it went dark for a while. Threatened to rain, but never actually did. Still very overcast now, and there is a thundery feel to the air. I love a good storm but we always seem to miss out.
I'm looking forward to seeing Rosie tomorrow xx

  4. Hi Barbara – I also like both of them too. Well done for doing a clear up in the Art Room – so reassuring to know that I am not the only one to have so many things around. Looking forward to watching Rosie's shows tomorrow, hugs Gilly xx

    1. Hi bloggy friends – Neill's operation went well and he came home on Thursday afternoon. I think that he could have done with an extra day in there, as he was in lots of pain and found the journey home (about a 40 minute drive) very difficult. Yesterday was very challenging – but there has been an improvement today. I had stayed with my best friend whilst he was in hospital and she looked after me so very well. Thank you all for thinking about him, love and hugs Gilly xxx

    2. I'm still dithering over canvases but not confident mine would look half as good as yours. I would like to see mod podge in action too if it could be done on hochanda or at leyburn it would be brilliant xx

    3. Hi Gilly good to hear the op went well but not good about the journey and the pain. I hope being at home in his own bed and some TLC helps. Sending hugs to you both xxx

    4. Hi Gilly,
Pleased that Neil's op went well and that he's now at home. I know that they get you out of hospital asap these days . Neill was in the same time as me & I had an extra day as I'd been so sick with codeine! I can say to Neill that there will be pain ( especially at night!) for a few weeks but honestly it will go so just keep going and get rest during the day when the pain relief is working and do your exercises to keep the bend getting better – it will be worth it I promise! I've got it all to go through again but I know what to expect now. Sending love and hugs to you both, Alison xxxx

  5. Very lovely stencil work. Love making canvases with mopped up paint from the gelli. I have this stencil and the alium head, got them a while ago when I was browsing on the website, will have to get the other ones to make the set. Enjoy the lovely weekend. Xx

  6. Evening bloggy friends, hope everyone is well. Crafty time for me, lots of birthdays and events to make cards for over the next few months so I'm planning on getting ahead this week! Well, that's my plan…XX

  7. Oh Barbara, I dread to think how your art room looked before, if this is the end result after a day of sorting!!!! Good for your mind to declutter round about you though. There's a saying about that, isn't there.

I love both pieces, but it's the canvas one that jumps out most. These 2 pieces from the same art process, it's like people eh. We're all from the same process, and same basic genes, a wee very minor change here and there to determine each individuals characteristics, yet we are all so different, a huge spectrum. You'd think we should all be far more alike than we are, just like these 2 pieces of art.

I'll try and get my head there to watch Rosie. I'll definitely be recording her shows to watch later. I hope you have an enjoyable Sunday. Love Brenda xx

    1. Barbara, if you have a say in what hours you are on Hochanda, would it be possible to have all Clarity hours before 7pm please? From what I can see, they have no intention of repeating the later hours for us Freeview only viewers, seems they're only going to repeat the hours shown before 7pm the next morning instead of some live hours. Thank you if you can xx

    2. Yes, I have already had that conversation, Brenda. The 8pm launch of the One Day Special is being moved to 6pm, 2nd hour at 8pm. So you will get to see it xx

    3. Thanks Barbara. Could you please ask them to repeat your 8pm show during freeview hours, if possible, because it going to go off at 7pm. If not, nae worries. Could be a lot worse. They could have stopped on freeview altogether. Just don't be doing any demos I want to keep and learn from at 8pm!!!!!! 😉 Thank you xx

    4. You'll still be able to watch online at 8pm Brenda ( I'm a 'Freeviewer too) and the majority of my watching is in the evening – apart from specific shows I like to see – Clarity at top of list obviously! HTH! X

    5. Thank you Su. Sadly, often not a very good time of day for me concentrating. But I guess I could try watching on rewind at a better time and taking notes and screen captures. That could work. xx

  8. They're both fabulous, but if I absolutely HAD to choose one for myself (fat chance) I'd go for the one with the shot of yellow. For me it has extra dimension. I'll look out for Rosie tomorrow – what a trooper!
    Tonbridge Sue

  9. Two gorgeous pieces of artwork Barbara, but I think my favourite is the right hand one with the yellow outlines, I just think it has more depth, but the other one is very pretty too and as you say they are just so different from one another. x

  10. Fantabulos! I couldn't pick a favourite and think they should be together… Standing side by side forever!
I am off for a right good inky session at Maria's workshop tomorrow so will have to play catch up with Rosie on Monday!
Have a good Sunday. Love and hugs xxx
