London

London

Hi there,
Thanks for popping in.
Grace just called me from New York.
“Mum! What’s going on in London? You ok?”
I didn’t even know there was a problem.
Had pulled the early shift at work, and had come home for a
little nap before doing the blog and some artwork.
Boom.
In the hour it took me to have a little sleep,
the Mother of all Parliaments came under siege,
people were killed and maimed on Westminster Bridge
and the heart of London was thrown into turmoil.
How quickly it goes.
Shocked, sad, angry, disgusted.
BLOODY EVIL COWARDS.
London under attack.
I had planned to blog something completely different,
but in light of the events in the last few hours, that would seem inappropriate, infelicitous.
So instead, I want to just stop and think about the poor poor innocents who got caught up in the hour of evil insanity just an hour up the road from here.
Please will you join me?
Close your eyes and just speak to them.
Tell them how you feel.
Love & Hugs,
Barb

  1. This is amazing! So very sad what has occurred in London today! What evil people there are in the world! My prayers and thoughts are with all those poor innocent people and their families too.
    Hugs to you both

  2. Couldn't believe what I was seeing. Know people working in the building and round the corner. Thinking of all those affected, on holiday or just going about their day.

  3. I feel so sad for the families who've lost loved ones and for whom this is a nightmare that will never truly end, and for those injured, in this cowardly, evil, and completely unnecessary, attack. xxx

  4. It is all so sad. All those affected went out this morning on an ordinary day and in an instant everything changed. My thoughts and prayers are with all those involved. It is such a sad day. Hugs xxx

  5. Another sad day :(. We were on the way home from a lovely morning out, gin tasting at a local distillery in the Cotswolds and lunch in a nearby pub and heard this on the news in the car on the way home. Sending prayers and thoughts to all those involved (except one, who I have no thoughts for at all). Xx

  6. I cannot begin to imagine what sort of thoughts go through these people's heads – that they think what they are doing is for the greater good??? My heart goes out to those who died today and to their families who said goodbye to their loved ones this morning fully expecting them to return home this evening. I confess to shedding tears this afternoon but alas I do not know what the answer is. My heart is a little bit broken tonight. 😔😔😔 x

  7. I have been watching this unfold on the news. My Husband was in London yesterday and actually walked along the path where the car hit the people. I am thanking our lucky stars today, but am extremely sad for all who have been caught up in this horrible act.

  8. I am with you, Barbara. As the mother of a serving officer, I find this even more difficult to deal with. There can be no justification for this MURDER of innocent people and a policeman just doing his job, and the maiming of so many others. I also cannot imagine the terror of those trapped on the London Eye, witnessing things with no way to escape. My deepest thoughts are with those who are injured and with the families of all those affected. We must not let these criminals dictate how we live our lives otherwise they have won. xxx Maggie

  9. Such shocking news along with images that we really wouldn't want to see coming from our capital city. My heart goes out to that poor woman and police officer who were killed and the other people cruelly injured!
What is this world coming to?
    Hugs to you all xxx

  11. Can't believe it, so very sad for all those caught up in such awful events. Can't believe that there are such horrid people in the world. Sending love to all. Xx

  12. Could hardly believe my eyes, London my home town… poor people so tragically injured and some dead…. praying for them and their families… so unbelievable when you think how many Police Officers are there on a daily basis.

  13. I just can't understand the mentality of these evil people and that is what they are – EVIL! I understand that there are now four people who have lost their lives. My heart goes out to those innocent people who were doing their jobs ,coming home from work or just out enjoying themselves and for them to be caught up in this horror. My thoughts and prayers are with all those caught up in this and their families. Love and hugs to you all, Alison xxxx

  14. I have with all my heart done what you suggested. Particularly near to our hearts here as our new daughter-in-law is a detective in London. What else can one say but to pray that we will remain vigilant and safe and brave in the face of adversity.
    Love to everyone out there.
    Anne (Reading)

  15. My thoughts & prayers are with all the people caught up in the horrific incident that took place this afternoon in London. We must pull together as a country & show the attackers that we will not accept their terrible behaviour.

  16. Yes, I'll join you Barbara, I'll talk to them. It's so repulsive, what some individuals want to do to human beings. And the innocents caught up in it, just going about their daily life in a peaceful way, harming no one. Incomprehensible what they and their families and friends are going through. And the poor French kids caught up in it. Evil, sick, individuals doing this. Can't even call them humans, they don't deserve the title!

Time for us all to put in extra effort to share kindness, love, positivity round wherever we can, in our thoughts, in the form of RAKs, just in our general life too. And, for once, all the moaners, all the complainers, for once, STOP IT, and be nice to everyone, only say nice things, you might be surprised in the positive responses you get back! Lets set an example, fill the positive side of the scales, and if enough of us do, maybe all our positivity and kindness will help turn the tide of this evilness in our world.

I know how bad these things affect you.
    Love you xx

  17. There are times in life that just floor you no matter how positive one is, this is one of those moments (won't venture into Brexit).
I can never understand why folk want to slaughter their fellow humans.
I jus feel so deeply sad for those caught up in this.
So I shall join you in sending my positive thoughts to all. X

  18. Thanks for your piece of art – I must admit that I totally expected you to do this. Unfortunately, there have already been too many times when you have had to do this. Thanks for your words and I have just done closed my eyes and done what you suggested. I am not even going to attempt to try to put into words what I am feeling – but I totally agree with all that you have said xx

  19. It's so hard to put one's feelings into words. I think it was the BBC's Norman Brown who said this afternoon that everyone knew something would happen somewhere in London sometime but that it doesn't make it any less shocking.

  20. Oh Barbara another sad day unfolded as we all went about our daily activities. My thoughts and prayers are with the people who died and are injured and their friends and families and a huge thank you to the people doing their best to keep us safe and look after after those who are injured.
    Love Diane xx

  21. Three of those hit on the bridge were apparently police officers making their way home from a commendation ceremony. Several of those who were injured are said to be suffering from catastrophic injuries, which, as I understand it, means that they are life threatening or life changing. I don't know whether to cry my eyes out for them and their suffering or shout loud with such anger at murderers who can inflict such horrible things on innocent people. Let's all put aside all the silly little gripes in our lives and be so thankful for the good around us. xxx Maggie

  22. A tragic day for London and another act of barbaric cowardice. And more grief for those poor families caught up in it, God help them. Yes, Barbara you're quite right, nothing frivolous for tonight's blog. Your words are powerful and a great reminder of where our priorities should lie.

  23. I used to work for the Government and have one friend who I was very glad to hear was safe and sound and (last I heard) was on lockdown. I was at work in London when another attack happened years ago and it is very frightening. My thoughts are with everyone who has been affected. The family and friends of those killed and injured, the person sitting at home horrified, angry and scared, the emergency services who risk their lives to help others on a daily basis and my friends who go home tonight, glad to be alive xxx

  24. I used to work near there, very near there and today I was so happy that we no longer lived near or worked near there. Then I had the thought that maybe my brother had had to go up there and I was frantic for a bit until I heard back from him. I have no words Barbara, just that our hearts and minds are sad, angry and p###d off, big hugs to all my friends wherever they are xx

  25. You always manage to choose the right words Barbara. A terrible day for London, So many families with be in deep shock tonight , my heart goes out to them. We were in London in November and walked around that area as all tourist do.What is the world coming to. But Londoners will be back going about their business tomorrow, they will not be beaten.i

  26. There is not a lot you can say about the awful events of this afternoon and this type of sick human being who in the space of a few minutes can wreak this kind of havoc. My thoughts are with all the people affected by this awful attack, and your art is a beautiful tribute Barbara. x

  27. Hi Barb
Love your artwork, yes I agree it is horrific and senseless it breaks my heart to think of the casualties and deaths. I think about their friends and family who have to wait for calls and information x

  28. Love and prayers for all those who were caught up in the evil that happened yesterday. My daughter was a police officer for 36 years so many memories of the Manchester bomb so proud of the police xxxx love you Barbara June horrocks
