Well that’s another fine mess!!

Well that’s another fine mess!!

Hi there!
Thanks for popping in.
Whilst Dave, Paul, Maria, Heather and Len pedal away in Port Sunlight today, I am here with Romeo, eating chocolates and watching the box.
And if you believe that, you know me little.
I’ve been TV prepping for what seems like foreeeeeever,
have got just about every pot, pan and spoon out of the cupboard,
and I STILL haven’t got anything for the last hour!
Mind you, I reckon by then I shall be beyond caring,
so I am going to throw caution to the wind,
have just slung my Gel Plates, a load of paint and large card in the last box, and I is going to roll my sleeves up and wing it !
This is what happened when I winged it (wung it?) earlier…
Don’t look Ethel!!!!
Saturday’s blog a new technique, right? Good!
Large Gel Plate
4 of the mini stencils from the Super Offer on Sunday Night.

Various acrylic paints…..

Brayered on a bit of translucent blue….

Added a little bright yellow (yikes).
Blotted here and there.
Let that layer dry on the plate….

Added a few more layers of reds and fuchsias.
Like  I said, I had EVERYTHING OUT OF THE CUPBOARD!

Once the paint was dry, I peeled off the stencils.
Looks great.
But now what….
Stencils are covered in paint,
and I haven’t got a clue what to do !!
Do you actually think that I ever have a plan???

LIGHTBULB MOMENT….
Will the paint on the stencil come off with double-sided adhesive?
There’s only one way to find out….

In for a penny, as they say.
Dabbed some white paint through the stars.
Needs to dry…

Let’s try something different on the large plate.
Instead of spreading Cheesecake paint,
let’s use a translucent paint to lift the patterns.
A blue. Maybe ?

MAYBE NOT!!!
I pulled the print on a sheet of music,
because I thought it might peep through.
Mmmm. All in the name of R&D.
Maybe I’ll come back to that one….
should have stuck to a lighter colour.
Rats.

But lookey lookey!
The leftovers on the plate look promising!

Cheesecake this time!

Marvellous!
Cor!
Now there’s a beautiful piece of artwork waiting to be born….

Back to the stars.
RESULT!!!

But where to stick it?
Don’t answer that!

On the scrap to my left…..

Cut it out, mount it on a card, and add a meaningful word.
I mixed up the Plum and Library Green inks for the word.

Hahaha.
I find this quite ironic.
How many times ? Six times before I trusted it to be right???

So there we are.
A new way to clean our stencils.
The mini ones which are being launched on Sunday are perfect, because they sit on the A6 Adhesive exactly!!
Very happy to have a little down time, before tomorrow.
Just a play with some paints, with no pressure to perform.
No clock to watch.
No targets to reach.

Chuffed with this little card.
If the mini stencils clean up that easily,
I think there’s a lot of little cards like this in the pipeline!

Time to pack.

Hope you can join me tomorrow.
2pm-3pm
5pm-6pm

8pm-9pm

And then 4 hours on Monday.
I must be mad.
Well, I may well be by 7pm Monday night!

  1. Oh, Barbara it doesn't really matter what you do, you always end up with something fabulous! If you were sitting with Romeo, eating chocs and watching the box..you would still have brushes in between your toes on one foot and dipping your toes in chalk paint on the other…Oh I wish I could draw cartoons..cos I can see it clearly in my mind!!
Family usually come for tea on Sundays, but this week they are coming for lunch with the proviso that they have to be gone by 1.45pm. To give me time to wash up and be sitting with my feet up (eating chocs and watching the box!!!!) You will be great, so please try and chill out and enjoy it. Love and Hugs xxx

  2. Hello my lovely friends. I hope you're having as good day a day as possible. I will try and catch up with you all during the course of the rest of the day. Love and Hugs xxx

    1. Hello Morag, good idea to have the family over at lunchtime. I have been making Christmas cards today. I have still got a cough/cold so didn't feel too energetic, the luxury of being retired is that you don't have to keep going xx

    2. Hi Morag, very late tonight. Let me know the secret of washing up in 15 min! Will be thinking of you at 2 with your tootsies up and a little sustenance to keep you going as you watch Barb with a contented smile on your face! I plan on the same! Xxx

    3. Morning Brenda

I hope you don't mind me muscling in on your comment but it made me giggle. I, too, was thinking Morag must be a very fast worker to get it all done in 15 minutes.

      Love
      Roz.x

  3. I love the stencil technique it looks very effective. I know you will be able to wing it well – you're good at teaching others to fly so it will come naturally I'm sure.

  4. Hello all I didn't have the energy to write last night but it is earlier in the day today and I feel a bit brighter. I hope you are all OK. Alison I hope you have a lovely holiday xx

    1. I'm sorry you're still poorly, but as you say there are definitely advantages to being retired. I hope you are feeling better soon. Love and Hugs xxx

    2. Hi Chris I hope you feel better soon. Oh the joy of hearing the rain lashing down on a Monday morning and knowing you can snuggle back under the duvet! Sending hugs xxx

    3. Hi Chris,
Sorry to hear that you still don't feel 100%. Colds and coughs always make you feel rotten and I hope you feel better soon. Thanks for the good wishes for our trip up to Mull. Love and hugs Alison xxx

  5. Hi Barbara, I've just got back home from Port Sunlight, a fabulous Show, Paul was my first 'port of call' with my Groovi questions, he gave me lots of advice and fabulous demos, then my list was out and my goodies were in my basket, my Diamond members discount was greatly appreciated when Dave totted up my total hahaha.
Then I was off to watch Maria with the stamping, she is so funny and her creations are gorgeous.
I wish I had your 'eye' you looked at what was left on your gelli plate and 'saw' something fabulous, I wish that I had just a smidgen of your talent.
I'm really looking forward to your shows.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

  6. Hi Barbara
What a fantastic, inspiring person you are. I love what you have produced by playing. Just go with the flow tomorrow. It will all be wonderful and only you will know if it's not quite as planned. I know I am going to need those stencils. Try to get some rest tonight and see you on Hochanda tomorrow.
A big hug from Chris X

  7. I always enjoy everything you do Barbara and am looking forward to seeing the latest things you inspire us with. Its a good job I don't have to prep for shows as its taken me nearly all day to do one card! It was good fun though. Take care x

  8. Ooh, thanx for the heads up. I lurve the geli art. For now my favourite way of getting messy. Look forward even more to tomorrow evening. I thought all the prints were stunning, but especially the little star. Xx

    1. Hi Donna,
Yes I had a peek too! Looking forward to the shows although definitely can't afford anything this month! Hope you've had a good day, love and hugs Alison xx

    1. You're in my thoughts Sheila dear. I do hope you are improved enough tomorrow to be able to enjoy the shows. Lots of gentle hugs and love. xxx

    2. Oh Sheila, I'm so sorry that you've felt so poorly today. I hope you get a good night's rest tonight and then have a good day tomorrow. Sending lots of gentle hugs and lots of love, Alison xx

    3. Hope you're feeling a bit better today Sheila. Curl up on the sofa with Barbara on, and in between watch your conveyor belt of all the new Clarity goodies you'll just have to have 😉 xx

  9. Brilliant Barbara, I love it, both the wee cards and the saving for later piece. Glad you enjoyed a wee play, experimenting. When you wing it on telly it never fails to impress, so hope you can have a wee bit faith in yourself. And you may not need to wing it if everything sells out early. Hope you're not too nervous, and can enjoy your down time this evening. Love Brenda xx

    1. Hello Brenda hope you've had a good day and your computer is behaving. I hope you've told Daisy she's to sit and watch Barbara quietly tomorrow and not try out her Olympic skills to distract you. Sending hugs to you and Daisy xxx

    2. Thanks everyone xx
Decided to have a day off from the laptop. The slight pixelation I think I need to just put up with, found a way around the Microsoft issues, mostly what's left is getting my stuff back on it. I did find a way to be able to read the old saved emails, phew, because I needed the TV licence number for changing the old email address in the account. It's updating endlessly which is a drag as it slows things down a bit. But much better than no laptop eh.

Had the hot water runing for longer today, and the heating on this evening. Not noticed any issues, but was a bit preoccupied once the first cycle had finished.

Brilliant last night, falling asleep to Hochanda in the background, and that being what's on every time I woke up. Comforting. I slept a bit better, first time in ages, don't know if that was just coincidence though.

My guess is Daisy will want to play hide and seek or chasey when Barbara is on!!! Mind you tomorrow is floor cleaning, if I can encourage her to practise her speed skating, as Korky is challenging her for the winter olympic gold, then maybe she'll sleep through some of Barbara's shows!!! Or maybe she'll be mouse watching, she's been sat at the back of the front door all evening, hopefully just wishful thinking, there's peppermint oil all over the place!!!

    3. HibBrenda,
Pleased things are getting sorted with you laptop and that your boiler seems to be working properly. That will be a relief for you. You do make me smile when you talk about Daisy! I hope she behaves when Barbara is on tomorrow. Enjoy, love and hugs Alison xx

    4. Thanks Alison, yes feeling more relieved and happier this week, and some other bits that were on my mind turned out ok too, and not feeling as ill today either. So hopefully a good week to come, fingers crossed. Daisy makes me laugh and smile and feel loved/wanted every day, just sharing that out for everyone who needs some too 😊. You'll love Mull, wish I was going too 😉 xx

    5. Evening Brenda glad you've had a good nights sleep and you're
cosy wi the heating on good luck trying to tire wee Daisy out
Amy loves cat's to when she is in her back garden the the wee
black one next door just seem's to appear and she know's his
name is Giro and it seems to love her to..x
Have anither guid night here's yir cuddle..xx

    6. Thanks Dot and Pam 😊 xx
Animals often sense something about autistic people, and find a way to connect with them, which then helps the person/child to connect back. Sometimes a pet is the only one they can/will connect with. Cuddle for you too Dot xx

  10. Yes will be watching tomorrow, might have to get the later one on catch up. Enjoy your little bit of free time this evening and I am sure your shows will go well even the one you are winging. I would be a little nervous about doing that but you are so good at your craft I bet it will be fine. Have a safe journey. xx

  11. Hi Barbara, you have been so busy getting ready for tomorrow. I am sure we will be over the moon with anything you do.
you are our insperation even though we sometimes don't quite get things right, we just keep going.
I am looking forward to the Groovi new plates I am sure they are great.
Just wing it nobody will notice.
Have a good journey up and take care.
    Lynn xx

  12. Hi ladies, hope you are all keeping well. Sorry to hear some of you are not to good, I know how you feel.
I have not been to bright for the last few days, had to go for my flu jab today.
I have been resting this afternoon, had all good intentions of getting down to do some Groovi Christmas cards but that went by the by.
never mind tomorrow is another day and we have the shows to look forward to.
Hope you all have a good rest of the weekend
    nighty nighty all.
    Lynn xx

  13. Fabulous! Those mini stencils are just brilliant!
I had a lovely day at Port Sunlight today. I asked Dave to let me know how the new porch drives when you get it! He laughed!
Good luck with the shows on Sunday and Monday and have a safe journey there and back! Xxx

  14. You always come up with something interesting Barbara. Recorder set. I will catch what I can between grandparent duties. Safe travel and good luck with the presentations. xx

  15. Hello Barbara
I hope by now you are all packed and are now sitting down eating chocolates and watching tv! Love the little card, it's beautiful isn't it. I'm sure you will be able to wing it quite happily by the time you get to the show, sometimes the winged ones are the best! I hope the sheet of music wasn't something Dave left on the music stand – whoops, that will serve him right for poldark last week! Haha. Safe journey tomorrow, have fun.
    Love Diane xxx

    1. Hello lovely blog friends hope you are all ready for tomorrow. We've had a quiet day today, someone (not me!) had a little too much red wine at the wedding yesterday and has been a little delicate. Haha. Sending hugs all round xxx

  16. Hi Barbara, you'll be fine, you could always ask people to ask any questions they need help with – crafty ones that is !! Glad Hochanda is back on tv too and will be recording as baby great niece is coming to lunch – not that I have to feed her of course ! Xx

  17. I need to try this one when my brain is in working order. It looks a lot of fun with a lot of mileage in it. Have a great time tomorrow. Good to be able to watch it on the big screen again. Just need Virgin to get in on the act now to make it perfect. xxx Maggie

    1. I'd just settle for using my gelli plate for the first time. Only bought it a few months after Barbara first introduced it!!!! Have you been painting any pictures recently? xx

    2. I've not even got as far as thinking about putting something on paper/card Chris 😉 but thanks for the tip for when/if I do, I've a huge pile of that sort of paper xx

  18. Hi Barb,
Love the trust piece. I'm sure that your shows will be brilliant -as ever! Even if you haven't got everything planned nobody will be able to tell. You are so talented that you'll have us all mesmerised! The goodies look fabulous – shame I'm so skint! Hope everything goes well, love and hugs Alison xx

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Thank you for your good wishes yesterday re my headache. It was my own fault as I hadn't had lunch and then we were late having tea. Always recipe for disaster as I get a migraine. Felt very spaced out today but had to be up early to get yo hairdressers for 8.30. Had a very lazy day after that, went to see my sister and then just chilled out. I really should have been doing some tidying up and sorting things for next week, but decided if I made myself poorly , I might not be going away and I couldn't have that! Off to bed now. Have a good night everyone and then get those cushions ready for tomorrow. Love and hugs to each and everyone of you, Alison xxx

    2. I'll fall off the wagon on your behalf then 😉 think I need a wee, probably big, treat to myself. But it will need to wait for a week, until much nearer garden visit as I worry about parcels arriving and not being in to get them. xx

  19. Hi Barbara, I wish I could turn out something as good as you do when you don't even have a plan. Must get my gelli plate out and have some fun you never know I may get a masterpiece, have you seen any flying pigs lately. Ha ha. You'll be fine Barbara, just wing it, it'll be all right on the night (day), you'll see. xxx

    1. Hi Barb, good luck with shows over next couple of days. Your tips re brayering have really worked, so thank you again! Meanwhile have you come across this from Mother Julian of Norwich – "all shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well". Very stilling. Could make a beautiful inspirational piece too, especially for someone with hours of demos on Hochanda looming!

    2. Evening well morning Pam God this blogging thingy takes me an age
you wouldn't think at one time I was a trained typist but that

  25. Hello Barbara

Well, you never knows what you will get if you just 'trust' and go with the flow. Beautiful. Have just placed an order a few minutes ago – looks like I will have to place another! Hey ho, no pockets in shrouds or roof-racks on hearses.

    Love,
    Roz.x

  26. Gonna miss the 2pm show 'live'(no worries – recorder set!) – if new plates sell out I can order direct.. fingers x'd may be getting TV for my little crafty room on way to see mam in hospital. Looking forward to seeing the 'diddy' Gelli plates /stencils this evening, great idea for getting paint off stencils, great card too!

  27. Brightens up my weekend, looking forward to your shows. I just know they will be inspirational and at the same time entertaining. What a great way to spend the days.xx

  28. Morning my new bloggy friends. I was too tired to write last night but it looks like I am like many of you who have bought the gelli plate when first demoed and it hasn't been out of the packaging since! Perhaps after this weekends shows I will be brave! Be thinking of you all whilst watching.xx

    1. Hi Susan, thought we'd maybe scared you off with all our madness!!!! 😉 Glad to meet a fellow bought at the start and never used gelli plater!!! Guess we both should do something about that eh! That's me settled down in my sunny craft room to watch Barbara on my tablet, recording too. Happy viewing xx

  29. WOW this is fabulous and so loving the colours. Good luck with winging it but you will be awesome as always. Looking forward to watching the One day special too.
    Hugs
