Magical Gentian & Columbine.

Magical Gentian & Columbine.

Hi there!
Thanks for popping in!
What a glorious day it has been down here in Sussex!
Day 1 of the Retreats,

Monday’s blog is Flowers and Trees, right?
So I dug through my stash of finished step-by-steps,
and procured this one, which fits the bill!

I was wanting to find something a little magical,
a little tropical, a little Rio.
After all, Team GB really have blown the doors off this year!
I never thought I would see a UK Gymnast take 2 Golds home.
Blimey.
Have we finally started supporting the young talent in this country, and nurturing them through to excellence??

Anyway.
Here’s a bright and summery card for you, using
a pair of big and beautiful Flower Stamps…

Gentian & Columbine

The flowers come complete with masks, so this is easy.
Stamp them into a bunch on our 7″x7″ Stencil Card.
Either flower works well for this….
Use a Clarity Brush or a Blending tool to add colour.
Dye based ink pads….
Use Joe’s Bubbles Stencil to add interest by lightly
tapping either white paint or white ink through the stencil.
Then add a couple of Wee Fairies.
Use a white Pilot pen to sprinkle magic…
Run round the edge with a black Sharpie pen.
Stamp the word Magical into the corner.
Magical comes from Word Chain No. 7

That’ll do for today.

Sorry I’m a bit late.
Had supper with the retreat team,
which was a real pleasure.
Love & Peace,
Barb

  1. Such a pretty card would be lovely for a little girl in fact I have a great niece who would love this. We have watched so much Olympics especially yesterday so many medals, so proud of our athletes. I am all packed and ready to leave in the morning to join in the fun on Wednesday. xx

  2. Hi Barbara – yes our Team GB have done so very well this year, and it was wonderful to watch Max Whitlock yesterday win 2 Gold Medals. Then it was an amazing tennis match late last night, and I stayed up to watch it all. Andy Murray did us proud, and his opponent played so very well too! I think that maybe our young athletes are getting some of the support that they have needed, at long last! By the way I had a lovely conversation with a member of Team Clarity today, regarding an order that I had put in, I would say she had Gold Medal Status! She truly did you proud! I love today's step-by-step! Hugs Gilly xx

    1. Hi to all of my lovely blog friends – I stayed up very late last night to watch all of Andy Murray's match – it was fantastic to see him win Gold! So, I ended up going back to bed this afternoon, to have a big sleep! The only thing that I have used any energy on today, is to wash my hair! We have had a perfect summer's day, beautiful! Hope that you are all ok, and have put your orders in now! Love and hugs Gilly xxx

    2. Evening gilly bless you catching up on your sleep I too rang clarity towers today they are so thoughtful and helpful what a wonderful team hugs xxx

    3. Hi Gilly,
The tennis was great wasn't it? I am so proud of Team GB , they have been brilliant. I put my Groovi sale order in this morning so looking forward to that arriving. Have a good night's sleep, love and hugs Alison xx

    4. Hi Gilly the tennis was good wasn't it, hubby stayed up to watch it then came to bed and told me all about it! Beautiful weather here too, just right for a snooze this afternoon. Xxx

  3. Gorgeous. So pretty. My Olympic event is the sofa slouch. I'm getting pretty good at this. The limbering up is especially gruelling, but the most tiring is the propping the eyes open, so as not to miss anything…. Ooh…it's so exhausting! But so fantastic. Xxx

  4. Wow Barbara a beautiful piece of art work so pretty you never fail to amaze me with your inspiration.
I agree all our GB teams are amazing .xxx

    1. Evening dear blog family of friends sending you all thoughtful hugs ,hugs to all on the blog a extra wee hug for you Dorothy thinking of you xxx
I've had my mobile hairdresser this afternoon so bed for 8pm
I've got an nurses appointment tomorrow for my bloods so an early night tonight so goodnight hugs to all xxx

    2. Hi Sheila – pleased that you managed to have your mobile hairdresser today, and I hope that all goes well with your bloods appointment tomorrow! Goodnight and God bless – love and special hugs, Gilly xxx

  5. It is good to know you are well enough to get together with everyone. I am sure you and they all had a wonderful evening. I love this card, one of my favourite flower stamps, a favourite stencil, and you know I love those wee fairies. I had a wonderful afternoon glued to the dressage to see Charlotte Dujardin retain her gold medal place with the beautiful Valegro, such a great partnership. I so need a set of stamp to go with all the other sports that represent the equestrian side, perhaps a dressage horse doing an extended trip or a piaffe, and a show jumper in action. Any chance? Please, pretty please. Are the paints in the fridge tonight? It is supposed to be hot tomorrow. xxx Maggie

  6. Oooh I love this stamp and am definitely going to try and use it this way – I know just the person to make it for…….thanks for the inspiration Barb. Our Team GB are really doing us proud in Rio-second in the medals table……..fantastic!!!

  7. What a lovely project today. I don't have these stamps but I do have plenty I could use instead. I think my daughter should get a gold medal. She got 5 A's and a B in her National 5's (Scottish equivalent of GCSE's). Diane, I hope you read this as you were asking yesterday and yes I am extremely proud of her.

    1. Hi Julia – good to see you back here, from your holiday. Please pass on my congratulations to your daughter, she must have worked very hard! You have every reason to be proud of her! I read your comment to Sheila yesterday – I hope that things will go as well as possible for you. It's not an easy thing to go through – I did it myself about 19 years ago, and it was the best thing that I have ever done! I will be thinking of you, love and hugs Gilly xxx

  8. Really summery card today, just lovely. I'm really enjoying the team GB medal rush – the young girl who won the first ever bronze in the hammer throw brought tears to my eyes because she danced with delight, and the dressage gold was truly amazing x

  9. Hi Barb,
Love today's card, very pretty. Really enjoying the Games and Team GB have been brilliant. Brilliant to have won the gymnastics medals although I did feel a bit sorry for Louis Smith. Just finished watching Mark Cavendish get the silver and Laura Trott now in the elimination. Just loving everything. Glad the retreat is going well. Got a Clarity parcel today which included my cover for the light panel. Have to say I'm really pleased with it, so thank you for that. Love and hugs Alison xx

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Hope you've all had a good day. The weather has been lovely here today although I have felt terrible all day. Didn't get any sleep last night as my nose was just so blocked. Hasn't been any better today either. Isn't it strange how a common cold can make you feel so awful. Have enjoyed watching the Olympics though. Off to bed now hopefully for a better night, so I'll say Night Night to you all, love and hugs Alison xxx

    2. Hi Alison – sorry to hear that you are not feeling so good, yes it is strange how the common cold can make you feel so very unwell. Glad that you have been enjoying the Olympics too! So, night night, sleep tight! Love and hugs, Gilly xxx

  10. This is indeed magical and certainly bright enough to evoke the feeling of Rio and the sunshine and excitement of Brazil and our Olympic success. Glad you have had a great first day for the retreat and relaxed a bit with the team afterwards. x

  11. It seems like such a long time since I was down on the retreat with you! Hope everyone has a great time this week.

I've always said that fairies weren't my thing, but I'm gradually being drawn to the mystical, magical style of stamps and art. Maybe it's escapism!

The Olympics really are something special – not a sports fan normally, but watch things in the Olympics I wouldn't dream of normally! Such a microcosm of humanity.

  12. Beautiful card today, what inspiration. Love the stamps, stencil, colours and especially the fairies. Hooray got them all so must have a go. Thank you Barbara. Glad you had a bit of a relax with the team after the Retreat today.xxx

  13. Hi Barbara
Sorry just lost a post so i bet I end up with 2!!! Beautiful card today, lots of gorgeous colours, remind me of Rio. Team GB are doing so well, isn't it fabulous to see. Have a lovely evening with your retreat buddies. Love Diane xxx

  14. Hi to all you blog friends, super warm and sunny day today here. Hope you've all had a good day. Went out to lunch with 3 of the ladies I used to work with, lovely lunch and company. Xxx

  15. Hi Barbara, thank you for still fitting in a blog and new artwork to inspire us. Much appreciated.

It was the second part of my rythmic gymnastics today, The Scary Hose Routine. A tricky one as the wind likes to sabotage your routine. And you get penalties for leaning on windowsills and surrounds. So, I'm rubbish at it!

    Hope your retreats go well
    Love Brenda xx

    1. Thanks everyone xx
Hope you live on the ground floor Donna!!!! 😉
Yes I am enjoying the Olympics Sheila, going to really miss it when it finishes at the weekend. when do you get your blood results?

    2. Hi Brenda it should be tomorrow hopefully if the dr checks them as having them weekly taken till after my liver scan did you read my message I left you about my liver scan ?
It so lovley to read how much enjoyment that you have got out of the Olympics and what you and daisy has been getting up to you have made me smile each day hugs xxx

  16. Missed this before going to bed but catching up know another wonderful card we are doing very well this year well done team GB. Also team clarity going for gold to the best well back to bed for me xxx

  17. Hello Barb, what a beautiful card, lovely tropical colours, very Rio. Yes Team GB is doing very well, proud of my adopted country. I was also very pleased that the athlete from my birth country, South Africa got the gold. All well deserved. Glad the retreats got off to a good start. Take care. Bx

  18. Morning Barbara, Glad your first Retreat went well. This card is definitely 'magical' I love anything that is 'ethereal' and this card is definitely that !! I love this !!
We are second in the Medals Table, isn't it amazing, our GB Team have all worked so hard !!
Lots of love from Patricia xx

  19. Hi Barb
Beautiful artwork, I love the stamp definitely one to include with my winnings yay!!! Barb, this Olympics seem to have a great feel even though mostly done on a shoestring compared to most countries and the U.K. is doing a terrific job X X X
