Butterflies & Hummingbirds

Butterflies & Hummingbirds

Hey everyone.
Paul here, taking over the blog for one last time.

Just in the green room grabbing a quick bite to eat.
Had a lovely show with Hayley.

I wanted to share a step-by-step using some of the new Groovi Plates designed in conjunction with my very good friend, Jayne Nestorenko.
We launched 4 new plates today on Hochanda.
If you missed them, then you can watch them on catchup via the Hochanda website – 2pm and 5pm.

I have also used the following:
Start off by using the Nested Squares to create a double frame.
Replace the Nested Squares with Jayne’s Butterflies,
trace out the largest butterfly.
Use the Nested Circles and trace out a double frame as below
Take Jayne’s Flourishes and trace out in between the square frame and the round frame.
To add some colour, I have used a Spectrum Noir pencil, but you could use a Distress Marker, Polychromo pencils or a medium of your choice.
On a separate piece of parchment, trace out the large butterfly again.
Now turn your Butterfly over as we are going to work on the front.
With the soft side of the black mat facing up,
use the 2 needle tool that comes with the set of Piercing Grids to perforate around the Butterfly

We have just started stocking the Perga Cutters from Pergamano, and I must admit that I do find these easier to work with.
Repeat the above process, but just do the inner part of the Butterfly.
Layer up onto some of the blue parchment and then onto a 6×6 Card Blank.
Then to finish it off, I have used the Clear Stardust pen to add a bit of shimmer and sparkle.

Jayne’s Butterflies have been designed so that you can decoupage lots of different layers.

Well I hope you have enjoyed today’s step-by-step and that it makes sense!

If you have any questions, then please drop me an email paul@claritystamp.com

Lots of love xx

  13. Hi Paul, beautiful artwork, thanks for sharing. I know you're not Scottish, so I'm hoping you're a tennis/sport fan? Why, because then you'll understand, I'm very sorry, but I just had to watch Andy Murray, and now I'm catching up on the gymnastics. I have recorded your shows though so I can still watch them later.

Thank you for being a good surrogate blog mummy. Don't be shy, you can leave us a comment whenever you check out Barbara's blog.

Poor Paul, are you feeling like Billy no mates – you keep encouraging us to email you with any problems!!!! πŸ˜‰ You may just regret that one!!! What kind of problems are you good at solving? Does finding me good support/help fall into your repertoire?!!! πŸ˜‰

Hope Barbara et al are home safe and well, and not feeling too sad at their special holiday being over.

It's good to be alive, even when life isn't

    6. I love this time of year. Only got dark outside now, doesn't get dark, dark, and is daylight again by 4am. I want the planet's tilt to stop at today so it can always be like this! Can I add this to my list for you to do Paul?!!! πŸ˜‰

  14. Beautiful plates, gorgeous samples and great demos. Thanks Paul, you've done a good job all round, daily blog, prep and everything else that needed looking at while Barbara was away on holiday. The pizza box treasures were a daily delight. I hope Barbara, Dave and Steve had a great holiday and a good break away from their daily routines.

    1. Hi Emma, how are you? Any more adventures planned? Was your show at Ingliston? I had heard it wasn't a very good one, but that was years ago, hope it was worth you coming through for xx

  16. Fabulous shows Paul! I love the new plates! And it was great to see what all the team did with them too!

However one thing did strike me….you're going to have your hands full this summer if you're in charge of keeping control!!! See you in July!!! Haha! Xxx

  17. Hi Paul – thanks for 2 great shows! Jayne's new plates are stunning! I am very new to Groovi, and have so much to learn and so much more practice to do, but today many things seemed to fall into place for me – so thank you for that. Also, many thanks for taking such good care of Barbara's Blog – we are all most grateful. I think that you deserve a well deserved rest very soon! Hugs Gilly x

    1. Hello to all my wonderful blog friends – it sounds as though the sunshine has reached you all today, which is wonderful! I really enjoyed Paul's shows and how many of you have already ordered these beautiful new plates, I wonder……
Love and hugs to you all, Gilly xxx

    2. Hello Gilly, yes you're right about the sunshine, it really does give us a lift. I hope you've had a good day. It sounds like you're really coming on with your Groovi now. I did succumb and order the Butterfly and Swirl plates. I am trying to save for the Christmas plates when they come out., but oh dear, where's my willpower!!! Take care my friend. Love and hugs xxx

    3. Hi Gilly, glad you've shared the lovely sunshine today, hasn't it been wonderful, even sat outside to have our tea tonight, and that's not happened for a couple of years. Hope you've been resting a bit today. Love the new plate but saving them for the Open Day. Have you been to Cribbs Causeway before then, being Neil didn't seem very keen. Just thought it would be easier for you as it's all free parking, there are some height barriers but lots of entrances where there's none. I'd say to come to our house but we live on a main road with double yellow lines and opposite shops where there's only limited parking. I'm sure we can come up with somewhere else to meet even if it's further away. Love and hugs, Pam xx

    4. Hi Pam – so pleased that you have had sunshine today too! I haven't been to Cribbs Causeway, but Neill has. Anyway, we will be able to meet somewhere – we will confer nearer to the time. Actually, we might decide to stay overnight on a site – so then you could come to us maybe? I hope that Dom is a little better today – love and hugs xxx

    5. Yep, lovely sunshine for us too but a little chilly in the shade. I haven't watched either of the shows so at least I have something to look forward to.

  18. Fabulous shows Paul! I love the new plates! And it was great to see what all the team did with them too!

  27. Hi Paul & ladies, well done Paul lovley shows new plates a must have but need to wait so once the Christmas plates come out can put a larger order in. Paul with regard to the cutters I bought a set from you but I hear the ones you used today are better and you can get a better result? Is this right before I go ahead and buy them. The samples from the Design Team were wonderful today and your cutting was excellent. Ladies the sunit has been out here in Leicestershire today very warm. Hope you all have had a good day. Hugs to all. Lynn xx

    1. Hi Morag, yes had a good day,Pauls demo's were great. As you said I am looking forward to the Christmas plates got one but that was for starters. I sat last night having a go at cutting? ??? 1. Hi Dot. Those 'posh' pencils are great. Mind I got the 36 box years ago for my birthday quite a few years ago. So I'm gradually building up my collection by buying just a few at a time. A slow process, but worth it. I hope you've had a good day my friend. I'd far rather be buying Barbie than Groovi sometimes. It'll be so worth it to see the Grandbairn's faces when they open their pressies. Love and Hugs xxx

  34. Managed to watch your first show and absolutely loved it. The new plates by Jayne are amazing and the samples from the Design Team were absolutely stunning. I love your butterfly card, Paul. The demo was fabulous and I think that you were very brave doing your snipping on close up on the TV. You seem to be a natural. What a fantastic design and I can't wait to give it a try after I've bought these new plates at Crowborough on 18th.
Thank you for keeping Barbara's blog going so that she could have a full rest from work. You've done a great job and I've enjoyed reading your input. Thanks for a great tutorial today too.

  36. Morning Paul,
This is beautiful. The shows were great yesterday and the plates were beautiful. I put in my order to Clarity towers straight away! As usual the samples from the Design Team were simply stunning, so we'll done to all of them too. I would like to say thank you for taking over the blogging duties while Barb was away, you have done a brilliant job and we'll have you back any time.
    Love Alison xx

    1. Morning to all my lovely blog friends,
Sorry I'm late but I was in bed really early. Some neighbours had a party the night before that went on for hours and the noise was awful. It was the son's 18th. At one point Dave leaned out of the bathroom window and asked them to keep the noise down! It worked for about 30 minutes. It would've been ok if they were in the house but they were in the garden! As a result, I was goosed yesterday and ended up with stinking headache. They have only recently moved in and are the only ones in our half of our estate with young people. Everyone else is late 50's upwards, so it came as a bit of a shock to all of us!
Anyway enough of a rant ( sorry!) . Paul did really well yesterday didn't he? The plates were gorgeous and needless to say my order went in! I bet many of you did the same too. I haven't had chance to read all of your comments yet. It was a beautiful day here yesterday, and looks really lovely today too. I might even get to enjoy it today. I think it might be a gardening day – I need to buy my bedding plants and get them planted. Hope everyone is ok, love and hugs to you all, Alison xxxx

  37. Afternoon Paul a big thank you for keeping us up to date on the blog while Barbara was away ,I caught up with yesterday's show so much inspiration and ideas I loved the new groovi plates that Jane designed such a talented lady the design teams art work was outstanding.hope you can have a well earned rest now you have been superb crafting hugs xxx
