YouTube Tuesday – Gandering Geese – and a Barbara Bargain or 4!

Hello there!
Thank you for popping in on YouTube Tuesday!

Today, I have tackled a canvas;
was really pleased with the way it came out.
Hope you like it, too.
I know many of you think that a canvas
is beyond your reach just now,
but when you watch this video,
you will see that actually, it’s not that hard.
In fact, it’s pretty straightforward.

I worked out a really easy way
to apply stamped images to the art, too.
Probably been done a million times by a million others,
but it works for me too!

Below, I have created a couple of Canvas Starter Kits
at super reasonable prices, to create 6 canvases!

All you need in addition is
brayer,
a Black Archival ink pad,
some plain tissue,
a pair of decent scissors,
and colouring pencils.
And I’m certain you have at least one of those!!!!

The Geese are beautiful stamps.
I think we will have a

    2. Hi Sheila and Donna quick put the cushions out or get your jump suit on with built in air bags, I can feel a lot of falling of the wagon going on! Ooooooo fresco paints, I can hear them calling! Hope you are both ok xxxx

  2. Love YouTube Tuesday. Wonderful project Barbara. I really enjoyed watching it and how you made it all come together. Much less daunting seeing it one step at a time. Will have to give it a try. Thanks so much for sharing with us all and have a wonderful day.

  3. Hi! Yes! I truly enjoy your tutorials and look forward to each and every one of them. I'm from the USA and so thankful for YouTube.

I would love to try out the paints, stencils, the whole shebang, but unfortunately my pocketbook has sprung a leak ;-). I've not heard of these fresco paints, but they look quite nice.

As for your tutorials, I had been trying to catch up, going back a few years or so; I think I'll move along as I should be crafting LOL!

Thank you for all you do! You are an amazing artist and a fantastic teacher and I look forward to more.

I wish you an awesome day, Christina

  5. Thank you for the super blog. My order including my Fresco paints arrived yesterday so it's down to the summerhouse to have a go. I haven't got the geese stamps so mine will have the hen a cock on it. Thanks for the inspiration .

  6. Loved sitting watching that brilliant idea using double sided on goose I need a play with a canvas well over due lots live and hugs Joy and love from Katie she just shouted Barbara is the best hehe sure you heard her xx

  7. LOVE the demo, LOVE the geese and LOOOOOVVVVVEEEEE the Barbara bargains! I have been card making recently but will have to get my canvas boards out and have a painty play. I am trying to think up a good Halloween idea for my sister………….any ideas anyone? XX

    1. Hi Donna, hope you don't mind me asking, is that your Cavalier I see. I miss mine so much. Been without them two and three years now. It's lovely to hear your banter with everyone on here.xx

    2. Hi Pam, yes she is my beautiful Tri colour Cavalier. Her name is Phoebe and she is 7 years old. She is such a calm placid girl and is never far away. She sleeps under the table when I'm crafting or beside me on the sofa. The Cavalier breed are my favourite, I did have a Blenheim too but she died about two years ago, I still miss her as she was such a different character, always up to mischief! The saying that pets leave footprints on your heart is so true. Do you think you will get another one? I would love to, but Phoebe is happy being the only dog in the house! XX

    3. Hi Donna it's been pouring with rain today again but hasn't felt so cold – it's either that or I'm getting used to the dampness! I did pop out to the post box but blow me it started to rain instead of drizzle as soon ax I stepped outside. Was it wet playtime again? Had a text from Emma yesterday, she didn't take a coat to uni in the morning ( can you believe it wasn't raining in Scotland!) so by the time she finished in the evening it was bucketing down. She text to say she nearly put her precious lab coat on to keep her dry but didn't want to spoil it! She did make us laugh. Your dog is a cutie, how lovely to have her snuggled by you. Hope you have a drier day tomorrow xxx

    4. Hi again Donna, We had a Blenheim first too. Doted on her. They are so gentle and have lovely characters. We've had a dog most of our married lives so now that hubby has retired he wants to do more travelling while we can. Maybe in a few years time but it's the upset when they go that takes so long to get over, if you ever really do that puts me off. Never say never though.xx

    5. Losing animals is so hard, they really are a part of the family. Enjoy your travelling and I bet you get a little cavalier when you are ready, don't think of the sadness think of the love and joy they give you. Xx

    6. Hi Diane, a rainy day here too and it was warm and muggy. The children had about ten minutes play inside at dinner time but then managed to get out so it wasn't too bad. My sister came in last night dripping, when I asked why she didn't have a coat she looked at me with a look of shock and replied "I didn't want to carry it round with me" when I pointed out that maybe she should be wearing it she kind of snorted and said "my coat wouldn't go with this outfit!". How silly of me! Xx

  8. Super demo Barbara. Really like the canvas demos as hopefully they'll give me the push I need to have a go. Love the geese stamps, definitely get them while they are on offer. Thank you so much for your most generous offers. Haven't got all the colours you've used of the fresco paints but sure I can improvise with what have. Loving the Groovi so pleased with it. Hope you and Dave are managing to relax a bit after your busy weekend and that your neck is better than it was. Also that Dave's results will be good news.xx

  9. Oh,how lovely. Like a few others on here, I have bought some canvas boards but not summoned up the courage to have a go. But I do love the effect with the texture coming through, so maybe the weekend. Can always paint it out if it goes wrong – until I add an image anyway!

And my 10 month old loved your musical interlude – she started dancing!

  10. Fantastic demo; the geese stamps fell into my basket somehow and now they're on their way! I have only worked on one canvas so far, so this has given me the impetus to try another one. Only problem is, that my Groovi starter kit arrived this morning so I am torn as to which to have a goat first – Groovi… Canvas… Groovi… Canvas…? What do you think everyone?

    1. Hi Sarah the groovi is a must, but it depends if you like messy or neat, enjoy whatever you decide to do. Let us know how you get on. Still plucking up courage to do the canvases myself. Did have a go at the reinkers on the felt tonight, not bad for a first attempt, you should have seen my inky hands.Ha ha.xx

  11. Great video, I loved it! Honestly, nothing to choose between the original and the demo version. The multi-coloured spring flower meadow was a brilliant ruse to cover the footless geese and no-one would have known. Also, I think this composition would make a great card. Thank you Barbara.
    Tonbridge Sue

  12. Super demo! Like the idea of the double sided sticky to attach the tissue too – must give it a go. Can see a little order of canvasses and paint winging its way to Clarity Towers! ;~}

  13. I love the way you showed the layering of the paint and it's good the have a tutorial to refer back to. The treatment of the geese was also very instructive. And a beautiful end result. I hope Dave's OK.

  14. Hi Barbara
I'm going to save the video for breakfast viewing tomorrow , but it sounds interesting. Ooooooh you are spoiling us with these great offers, had a look at the stencil collection the other day and was tempted but now you've put fresco paints into the mix, looks like it's beans on toast for dinner this month! Haha. Thank you for another great blog Barbara. Night night sleep tight.
    Love Diane xxx

    Hi Brenda xxx
    Hi Dot xxx

  15. Morning ….. I really must give it a go, I have the canvas I have the stamp I have a few paints so whats stopping me? ….. Nothing. So think its something to try today.

I have a day at home so think apart from doing the washing and baking cakes I have a day free.

Was playing yesterday making a card that looked like the Northan Lights….

Fab ideas and yes I ordered the re-inkers …. my early Christmas present for me.

    Crafty hugs Pen x

  16. Hi Barbara
The geese are so elegant and I love how you have coloured them. They are on my shopping list for the NEC. I have used up all my spending money for this month. I am going to try a canvas with your beautiful kingfisher stamp. I will be practicing on scrap card first as I need to work out how to create a watery background.
    X from Chris

  17. I adore your beautiful canvas with the geese Barbara and it is certainly achievable. The different sized dots using a ball tool is a great idea for making the poppies and I would never have thought of using stamped tissue paper with paint on the back for the geese and a great tip for attaching to the canvas too. Thank you for these great offers but unfortunately must sit on my hands at the moment. x
