Pick a Frame, any Frame!

Pick a Frame, any Frame!

Hi there!
Thanks for stopping by on this glorious, Groovi Saturday!
You may have seen on Facebook and the Clarity website that we have today launched a week of all things Groovi!
If you spend £40 or more on Groovi products, you will receive this brand new Christmas Tree Groovi Plate
So to start the week off with the celebration of all things Groovi, I thought I would show you some things to do with frames.
One of the many great things about our Groovi system is the interchangeability of the plates – how you can mix and match and swap them about, just like a big box of Lego
(other building blocks are available!)
Below I have traced out the 4 different “wreath” style designs – Doves, Deer, and the new Santa and Stocking.
They work perfectly as stand alone frames.
As you can see below, I have taken the Stocking design and for ease, I have cut it out. This then allows me to position it within any of the 4 designs – if I was making this as a card, then I could worked directly on the same layer of parchment.
But actually, I really like the cut out double parchment effect!
Ok, so lets go a step further.
When is a frame not a frame?
When it is a background!
So, let’s use our Groovi Plate Mate,
to add a couple of words to our design – don’t forget this is just like stamping and masking, but without the inky mess!
Once we have decided what we want to say,
place the parchment over the design,
like so:
Now let’s trace out the stars just as they have been designed to work, remembering not to go through the boxes!
Now its time to freestyle – move your parchment around and fill in the empty spaces – but not the boxes !!!
When you have filled it all in – add your letters – making sure that you work from right to left so that when you flip it over it says “Happy Birthday” and not “yppaH yadhtriB”
Then finish it off with a nice Frame;
after all that is what today’s blog is really all about
 – Pick a frame, any frame!
So I have taken the Nested Squares and gone around the outside to bring it all together.

That’ll do.
Who’d have thought that the starry starry background here was the wreath that comes with Santa!
(sounds kinky!)

Be sure to pop in tomorrow.
I spent a very enjoyable few hours preparing the blog, playing
with the brand new tree
which comes totally free
when you part with 40!
And yes, it will be available to buy.
Soon. Ish.
love & hugs,

  1. Hi Barb,
i love this! Just been over to the website and put my order in- this is not doing my bank balance any good at all, but hey ho you can't take it with you can you!!! I think the Groovi plate is such a clever system and so much cleaner than inks! Thanks for everything and have a good weekend with Dave. Love Alison xxx

  2. Love this aspect of Groovi, mix and match. I was doing your butterfly in a net for Mum and Dad's wedding anniversary but did not have nested squares or circles or the net! But with a bit of hit and miss got sort of the same thing with my spin on it. I'll post a pick on my much neglected blog, don't know how you manage to do it every day, kazzieb.wordpress.com if you want to see how it turned out. Sorry don't know how to link via a comment. Anyway what I was saying is that you work with what you've got and still get great results, genius! Mum is round tomorrow so I plan on introducing her to Groovi, that will be Christmas, birthday and Mother's day sorted for next few years. Must also remember to say what great service we are getting from Clarity. I ordered stencils in the sale on Monday, probably about 10 mins before sale finished and they arrived this morning, fab just in time for a playing session today. I call that great service, well done to the team, I've noticed how quickly they are turning orders around Barbara, and that is even in the face of all these fab offers you keep giving us making their lives even harder. Brilliant, genius, fabulous what more can I say! Karen

  3. Love them all, but I have a major problem. Every glue I try, and I've tried loads all clear glues, can be seen through the parchment. I've tried hiding the glue marks with toppers, pearl blobs, corners and so on and on. Please any ideas? X thank you.

    1. Perga glue is made for parchment or could fix with brads . Barbara seems to use punch that gives photo corners . You can as you say put pearls over but sure people with more experience than me will give more ideas

  4. lovely – Will keep an eye out for the Tree being available – I love groovi but don't really want ones that duplicate my Christmas stamps – hope you have some new designs in the pipeline as I love the technique – How about a plate with 4 corner stamps ? We know how versatile they can be 🙂

  5. Oh Barbara it's fab! I'm loving the groovi plates and it's made me rethink all about parchment craft! I've just spent a lovely afternoon playing with my new plates I got at the retreat. It's a brilliant system and the possibilities are endless!
Hope you're having a relaxing weekend! Love and hugs! Xxx

  7. Well, now I have the correct tumble drier sheets(!), I am falling in love with the Groovi system!!! The design today is fabulous Barbara and shows how truly versatile they are.
The thing that put me off the system when I first saw it was that it was not messy enough…however, believing in your brand and watching more demos I succumbed anyway! I cannot tell you how pleased I am with it, it's fabulous! My butterfly set came in the post this morning and I'm really looking forward to playing with it. It's a lack of mess (and stress) that is now a big positive as I can get it out without having mess everywhere, which is actually what sometimes puts me off starting in the first place!
I'm really looking forward to the retreat on Monday for some Grooviness and messiness!!!

  8. Oh wow that is fantastic, the possibilities are immense. Everyone in my local craft group has invested in a Groovi mate set so September is going to be our Groovi month, so looking forward to it. Thanks as always for the amazing inspiration x

  9. Hi Barbara
I see some must haves here. The whole system is so versatile and the results are beautiful. I am just off to the website to do some shopping.
I hope all is well with you and Dave.
    Groovi hugs from Chris X

  10. Hi Barbara, this is brilliant, it's amazing that this artwork has come from just a frame and the letterbox kit, thanks for sharing and helping us to think outside the box :-). And brilliant Mindfulness colouring it all in too :-). We've got summer sunshine, breeze and clouds on and off then in the space of a few minutes it changes to autumn strong wind and really chucking it down, then back to summer again!!! Just as well the seeds I sowed the other day are in a planter, although after that wind and rain I'm waiting for them to all sprout from the bottom corner!!!! Hope you're having a lovely weekend and Dave's health is continuing to improve, big bear hugs, love Brenda xx

Thank you to everyone for all the lovely messages that you left me yesterday, they have been filtering through to wherever I'm hiding in my head 😉 hugs to you all xx

    1. Hope you get to groovi craft soon I've been having a few rough days this week so my crafting has been helping me through ,I'm looking forward to this weeks groovi blogs to learn some more hugs xxx

    2. Thank you Dot :-). I had been thinking about Amy. Have you tried her with wee sensory balls? Hand size ones (no rude comments anyone!!!), they're something she would be in control of and small enough for her to have in her pocket for anywhere. I've got two kinds, one has a smooth rubbery cover with lots of small balls inside and when I squeeze it lights up and flickers for a short time. The other ones again are rubbery, they're like a ball of hairy strands, very soft, not the spiky kind, they feel nice to touch. They don't cost much, worth a try, you could try giving them to her when she's getting agitated, about to hurt herself, might help her calm down and maybe she could learn to use them when she starts to feel agitated herself. Glad you enjoyed your surprise, what a lovely boy you've got. You need to run a malware scan, you've picked up a wee bit of software that's doing all the ads stuff. xx

    3. Hi Brenda – your comment really made me laugh! I can just imagine all your little seeds sprouting at one of end of the planter! I have loads of wonky plants and shrubs in my garden from the wind up here too, Susan x

  11. I have just given in and bought the Groovi starter kits and the flower plate along with the reindeer and doves plates. I can't wait for it to come and have a play. I like to do different cards every year and I can feel a few Groovi ones coming on used with the spectrum noir pencils, sounds like heaven to me. I am still doing my teapot that you let us download although I haven't touched it in a while, but my craft room is my dining room and I decided to paint it the other day and I'm gonna paint the furniture too and make myself a wooden work surface so I may not get to do it for a while but this is what keeps me happy, being busy. Hope Dave's feeling better now and resting up. Sending love, from Sam xx

  13. Hi, I love the new Christmas Groovi plates, in particular the Christmas tree giveaway, can't wait for this to be available to buy – it really is a lovely design and have lost of ideas ….. I hope you and Dave are well and Dave is improving health wise plus I trust you are both relaxing this week, I will miss the show tomorrow, however, your health is more important – a good decision I am sure for you both. I am attending the workshop next week and am so looking forward to it, I attended last year and thought it was excellent so can't wait…. I have so much stuff, stamps, stencil's gelli plate I don't always know where to begin, but I do love your blogs and read them daily for inspiration… I have been trying the Blue tit with tracing paper and am going to have to do a second layer on the blue tit – not happy with the first (perfectionism setting in me thinks), but I have had a laugh in the process, I re-did the bird and painted the back white and found I had 2 layers of tissue paper very close together and painted the back white without the stamp !!!! What a dilly I am, but I am getting there… Take care and look forward to seeing you next week. xxxx

  14. Groovi……They are so versatile……will be trying some designs tomorrow and be getting in the Groovi.
Have a lovely evening – hope all's well with you & that Dave is feeling better xxx

  15. I am assuming this offer will be on at the retreat as well. Hope so then I can have a bit of a spend. So looking forward to learning new things. Hoping Dave is still improving and you not too tired from worrying about him. I am still planning to bring cake so hope he will be well enough to try some. xx

  16. Wow Barbara amazing, the new plates are fabulous, beautiful groovi parchments you have made what a super offer you have given us crafters I have been using my groovi today it's so relaxing .
Hope Dave is feeling brighter each day and your had a groovi time today big crafting hugs xxx

  17. This is really beautiful Barbara and a little bit of this and a little bit of that and building it up shows how just one or two bits built up can make a wonderful homogenous whole. Thank you for helping us to use all our things in lots of different ways and bringing out our inner designer. A great offer too. x

  18. Hi Barbsra Groovi week and a great offeryear'sks for that just back from a wee bit differant grooving myself thought I was going out for a meal but ended up at going to see Sir Tom Jones live thanks to a lovely early birthday surprise from my son .

    Kim x

  20. Hello Barb, so stunning, and very versatile. Love the frames and am saving up my pennies to get started. The deal sounds good, thanks for being so generous. Take care. Bx

  21. That is just amazing – who would have thought it came from a wreath shape? Still not sure parching is for me, but I am really loving seeing everyone else's samples and am in awe!! Susan x

  22. I LOVE this design – you are so clever to be able to come up with so many inspiring designs every day and then to take it further so that a piece of art that starts as a wreath ends up looking nothing like a wreath

I hope Dave is fully recovered soon, please make sure you take care of yourselves
