A Delft Delight….

A Delft Delight….

Thursday’s blog is always blue. This was a piece I did in the Classroom TV Show several months ago, using the Reeds and flowerheads from the Windmill kit. One of the Clarity Design Team ladies, lovely Sylvia Marshall, sent me a piece of artwork just like this, and I was so taken with it, I borrowed her classy blue design. Hope you like it as much as I do! Mono colour work always looks so classy!

All you need is
Make up sponge
Post-its and scissors, or Clarity Letter Box masks.
China Blue Promarker
Stamp the Letter boxes into place with Cobalt Archival ink.
Cut out masks, or treat yourself to a set of Clarity masks
Stamp the reeds in Cobalt, with the base over the Post-its
Start adding the little flower heads, blotting the Cobalt once and twice, for lighter blues.
Layer up the flowerheads, to make even more intricate blooms.
Design different flowers by layering up the various pieces. They sit well alone, but they also sit well on top of one another!
Add the Letterboxes to the top of the flower now. Wipe the ink away from the part of the letterbox which is going to hit the top flower.
Add the words. When dry, add the colour to the boxes, using the solid letterbox stamp and blotted Denim.
(The scrap copy paper next to the artwork says it all!)
Cover up the letterboxes again, and add shade with denim Adirondack and a make-up sponge.
This will make the letterboxes stand out and look three-dimensional.
Trim the artwork. Run the chisel end of a China Blue Promarker around all 4 edges.

There you have it. Blue on Thursday. We are working in Glasgow at the SECC this week, so I must dash!
