Sunday sunshine

Sunday sunshine

Hi there

Apologies for going a bit AWOL for a couple of weeks. It’s never just one thing, is it.

After a lovely break with the family, it was time to climb back into the Clarity saddle and crack on. But even when the company is shut, the turkey’s in the oven and we’re singing carols at the rugby club, my brain never really clocks off. It whirrs and cogitates and quietly gathers ideas. I jot things down so they don’t get lost, then January rolls around, the ideas list comes out… and boom! We have lift-off.

As for ideas, I’ve come to realise that an idea is only ever an idea until we give it shape and purpose – until we bring it to life. Until then, it’s just a spark, hovering there, full of potential. Until we act on an idea, work on it, explore it, nurture it, and breathe life into it, it remains an idea – and nothing else. The real work is in making an idea real.

But ideas also need time. Space. A bit of quiet. So I’ve been working from home, sketching designs and illustrating new stamps. I like my own company. Is it just me, or is January taking its time? December seemed to gallop, but January is a much slower canter.

Early January always carries a weight for me. It’s the anniversary of our dad’s death, and three years on, it still caught me out. I went to the back of the cave, so to speak, and sought my own company. Not out of sadness exactly – more a need for stillness, for listening inward, for letting things settle.

So the silence wasn’t neglect. It was necessary.

Sometimes stepping back is part of moving forward. A pause before the next sentence. A breath before the next idea takes shape.

And now… I’m back. 💛

Love and Clarity

  1. Lovely to see you back, but pleased that you took a bit of time out for yourself too.
Looking forward to seeing what Clarity 2026 has in store xxx

  2. We all need “me” time. Hope you had some great ideas whilst taking a few days out from “us” I love reading about what you have been up to – happy days. Regards Ann x

  3. Nice to have you back so to speak. I think we all need quiet, reflective, me time after all the hectic and frantic preparations and celebrations at the end of the year. Looking forward to seeing your ideas come to fruition.

  4. We all need a bit of time every now and then and it’s been pretty full on for you recently. Looking forward to seeing your designs in the fullness of time

  5. Love to have you back and seeing what you will create. I’m determined to follow the SHAC I started the new design but then had a nasty virus and now in hospital. I’m being well looked after and hope to be home in a few days. best wishes

  6. Dull and damp here today. Lights are all on! I fully u derstand about going to the back of the cave. Hope it has helped you.
I’ve had a week of things, firstly no heating last weekend when it was really cold, then hospital saying I require an op and finally yesterday, the car broke down and had to be towed home! Now got to wait to see if the local dealer can fit it in to be repaired!!
Anyway, looking forward to seeing some of your new ideas when they materialise!

  8. No need to apologise. Time to reflect and gather your thoughts are absolutely necessary for your own wellbeing and creativity.
Do whatever is best for you, or as they say on flights, you need to put your own oxygen mask on first, before helping anyone else!
I’m glad you’re feeling better, welcome back, but keep up with the self care! ❤️

  9. Welcome back. You’re more than entitled to take some time. Jan, to me, is a weird month and I don’t care for Feb either. John’s Dad died 26 years ago at start of Jan – what a start to a millennium but we always know how many years it is and first grandson was born in the Nov so we always know how old he is! I’ve spent it so far enjoying our new arrival, Teddy, but missing Mikey so much I almost feel guilty for loving Teddy. Also starting a new year without Mum, it will be firsts for everything without her too.

The good news is that I’ve done both exchanges, one posted and one to post tomorrow! I’ve also done the ironing. Now I’m going for a shower before dinner which will be easy today.

See you in the week x x

P.s. when I use autofill for my name to complete this blog it comes up with Mikey Couling – why our old cat ?!

  10. My friend sent me a book called “Wintering” for my birthday, about taking time and creating space for yourself when you need it. It’s nice to have you back, but even better that you took time out when you needed it xx

  11. Great to see you back online again, was worried about you ! Good to see that you took your own advice and had some time to yourself. x
