This lurgy is certainly doing the rounds, isn’t it? It’s that time of year. I look forward to feeling better soon. In the meantime, lots of fresh ginger, lemon and honey . It’s a lovely drink. I have a question: Is it a tea? Bit of trivia coming up..
Not exactly — but it can behave like one.
Infused ginger root, honey, and lemon is technically a tisane or herbal infusion, rather than a “tea” in the strict sense.
Tea, properly speaking, comes from the Camellia sinensis plant (black, green, white, oolong, etc.).
But in everyday language, most people do call ginger-honey-lemon water a “tea,” because:
- it’s prepared like a tea (hot water + steeping)
- it’s drunk for comfort or wellness
- it has that warm, soothing, cuppa experience
So:
Strict definition: No, it isn’t a tea.
Common usage: Yes, most people would still call it a tea.
Either way, it still tastes the same!

Small crafted gifts are always nice to make for our friends and family, and Clarity certainly provides us with the goodies to make them. Paul worked his magic on the Clarity show yesterday and “made me” put in a little order that included the new fridge magnets! Although the lovely Hazel had already convinced me at the Open Days that the fridge magnets are absolute must haves! 🤣

Hi Barb, that is also my go to remedy for the lurgy as long as it does not escalate and land you in hospital like my hubby at the moment. Love the coasters, unfortunately have to curb my craft spending at the moment, especially with my club renewal coming up. Get better soon, ensure you get plenty of rest. Bx

Tea is the best drink in the world, in whatever form suites. It soothes and calms both inside and outside. And, in this freezing temperature it warms the hands too….win win win!
I bought several packs of the fridge magnets at the open days and I am completing them as cracker presents for this year. Most other years I have struggled to come up with gifts for 16 people, but not this year thanks to you.
Wrap up warm and cosy and take the time you need to recover. I’m off to find BIP the bear No 3. xXx

Honey and lemon tea really soothing Barbara not a lover of ginger though. Bought some coasters and am making a few gifts with them must order some of the fridge magnets. Found Bip first thing this morning!
