71 Days to Christmas. Twiggy Bauble and the SHAC

71 Days to Christmas. Twiggy Bauble and the SHAC

Hi there

When we get together in the SHAC on Youtube LIVE every Monday morning at 10am, we do doodle and draw a lot of different things together! Remember these beauties? I am particularly partial to these two baubles. Maybe it’s their simplicity, maybe it’s because I feel the SHAC energy.

Sue has a card made with them on her wall, and I am drawn towards it every time I pop in her office. Did you know Sue has your artwork all over her walls at work?

So I am thinking these might be perfect for my Christmas cards this year. They come with the shape masks, which is really handy. Lookie lookie…

Here’s what we did in the SHAC, penning the festive writing to make the hanger, and using that lovely stripe stencil and matching background paper from one of Dee’s paper sets. I have a feeling we have sold out of that particular pad. Mmm… watch this space. I’m thinking a little pack of different stripy backgrounds would be really useful for quick makes….

Jazz also turned them into Groovi plates. Anybody got any artwork using them? I’d love to see them on our Facebook pages…

I love that about the SHAC. We get together, doodle something simple, hang out together. Then at Clarity, we turn that sketching into stamps and Groovi plates, that we can all use to be creative all over again.

Maybe you’ve still got your bauble drawing tucked away. Or maybe it even made it onto a card or decoration last Christmas. Either way, it’s a nice reminder of what happens when we stop for an hour, doodle together, and let simple shapes turn into something special.

Maybe you are seeing these baubles for the first time. Well today’s your lucky day! Did I tell you we’ve made them into stamps and Groovi plates? Hahaha. CLICK HERE to buy.

The SHAC is important. It was born out of a catastrophic global pandemic, but it kept a lot of us together and sane during those months of isolation and fear. It gave us a place to go every day, and we even had some fun during our virtual world tour on the SHAC BUS.

Next to getting sober many, many years ago, and raising Grace and Mark, it is probably the most meaningful, significant thing I have ever done.

Love and clarity,

Barb x x x

  1. Don’t know what we’d all do without you….. you are truly a kind caring inspirational woman who we love so much!

  2. Dear Barb, the Shac is an amazing creative space, and was most definitely a lifeline to so many during lockdown. I love these bauble stamps, they are just so versatile to use and create something amazing yet so striking. Need to go get mine out I think. Best laid plans and all that. Take care everyone, time seems to be hurtling past at the moment. Bx

  3. I often wonder what I’d be like now if I had not stumbled upon you and the Shac during the lockdown. I forgot I had this stamp set must get it out. The one I made in the Shac did find it’s way into the front of a card. Doodling and messing in the craft room is my happy place and somewhere I go when I want to be alone and forget about everything and everyone for a while.❤

  4. Fantastic stamps for quick makes and the Groovi plates are for more calming creativity (for me anyway).
I’ve got a few SHAC episodes to catch up with if only for the banter as I am always busy in the morning and can only listen and am sleepy in the afternoons although I do watch all the 2pm shows.
    Stay safe.

  5. You are rightly proud of the SHAC. It brought structure to our days in lockdown and taught us so much, developing drawing and colouring skills. Thank you. Xx

  6. Fab, I’m anyone’s for a bauble ! How lovely the SHAC is right up there for you, must admit it’s the highlight of many a week for me. Sue has a lovely display. There’s a few Christmas ones I drew – gnomes, wreath and bauble that passed muster to be sent as a card. I remember I sent the wreath one to Mum as I knew I could have it back !

Hope you had a lovey day with your Mum! Thanks for all you do xx

  7. The artwork on Sue’s wall looks fabulous and it’s interesting to see the ‘Clarity UK call centre’ workspace. I’d love to have a behind the scenes look at Clarity Towers. Perhaps you could take us all on a Facebook live tour during a SHAC session one day? It would be great to watch an outside (but inside) broadcast. I imagine that your stock room is an Aladdin’s cave of goodies ✨✨and that Dave’s workspace is a mountain, (well, a hill at least,) of Perspex ready to be made into stamp pens and tool holders. 😂
Unfortunately I didn’t find the SHAC until after lockdown, but I enjoy watching archived sessions whenever I can and I have a lot of stamps that were designed in the SHAC. Love them! 😊

  8. How do I put my feelings into words about how I feel about the shac. ……

I made my Christmas cards with these stamps last year and everybody loved them.

The shac is a safe haven where everyone is lovely to each other, welcoming supportive and encouraging. The shac means that a friend calls round on a Monday morning to share a cuppa and a chat. It is such a privilege to be part of it. From someone who has been terribly bullied in the past where confidence and trust was just a thing I dreamed about. …. I thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️ for all you are and all you do for us xXx

  9. Hi Barbara
Will try to dig out the photos of the cards I made with this plate and post on the group – so easy and pretty to make!

The SHAC and parchment craft were invaluable to me with regard to surviving lockdown – they helped me enormously! Thank you Clarity xxx

  10. The Shac was truly a fantastic thing you did for all of us and so much appreciated. You have every reason to see it as one of your real life achievements.
I try my very hardest to be there every Monday morning as I still get so much from it: not just the brilliant projects you bring us but the platform for banter and openess that brings like minded folk together.
    Thank you.
As to the bauble. I did stamp along with that at the time but it was a bit of a disaster, but as with all mistake, you learn from it which is another thing you do extremely well and generously and should be proud of i.e teach and inspire.

  11. Oh my goodness…….I hate to think what I would have done without the SHAC to keep me sane during those terrible lockdown days. As someone who is ‘artistically challenged’ to say the least I have learned so much about colouring and drawing. The Monday morning chat amongst us all is a brilliant way to start the week along with doodling & drawing, it sets me up for the week. You should quite rightly feel very proud of what you have achieved for so many people. Long may it continue xxx

  12. Thank you Barbara so much for the SHAC especially in Lockdown, I think you helped to keep me sane as I missed my family so much, I still get choked up when I think about it all and we all managed to come out the other side.
I love these baubles and I enjoyed drawing them and have the stamps too and only recently I was thinking that I must use them again.
Please keep doing what you do! By the way I thought the blouse you was wearing on Monday was a beautiful new one! It encouraged me to resurrect some of my older Tops!
    Your chair is amazing too.
    Keep crafting!

  13. The Shac was a wonderful thing you started in Lockdown, so relaxing, and thanks to you my drawing and colouring has improved. A Monday mornings shac is something I look forward to, and now I’m retired, I’m going to visit some of the shacs again. I used the bauble stamps for a few Christmas cards when they first came, I shall have to see if I have any pictures. Pleased you had a lovely day with your mum yesterday. Take care. xx

  14. I Love these baubles, Barbara.
The Shac was my lifeline during lockdown, never missed an episode, and the only ones I’ve missed since were the 2 nightmare months before my daughter passed away.
I don’t always join in the drawing now, but love the banter.
    You should be proud. X

  15. I remember the first SHAC so clearly.
Barbara, I am incredibly grateful for you. I join in the SHAC usually on rewatch due to the time difference but I never miss one. As I write this – tears of gratitude flow for you. I struggle to find the words to truly express the positive, supportive caring and creative impact you have made to my life. YOU being there so I can join in the community and enjoy the banter, creative inspiration, laughter, sometimes tears and so much more – you truly helped me push through some difficult times. You should be extremely proud of the SHAC and what you have created.
I admire and appreciate the entire Clarity Team and the Design Team.
Love and hugs to you and the Clarity Team.

  16. You starting the SHAC was the best thing about Lockdown – every morning at 10 we all got together to doodle & chat. I still have a number of the postcards that we coloured in during that time in a frame on the lounge wall. It will come with us when we eventually move to our new home along with other various Clarity based artwork. My husband says it will be easier to hang pictures than wallpaper the walls !!
I posted my cards done with the Groovi plates on FB earlier, now going to check what else has been posted for some more inspiration.
Looking forward to joining you at the Craft Along tomorrow at 7pm – early tea required !!

  17. loved all those days in the shac. Life gets in the way of listening live now but I listen in later on YouTube and enjoy hearing the chat and all the latest news
