Going full Circle … Sale ends midnight.

Going full Circle … Sale ends midnight.

Hi there

Just a quick step-by-step demo for you, because the Clarity fresh Cuts Die sale ends tonight at midnight! I came up with a cool trick whilst making the August ATC card for my partner of the month, which I want to share with you BEFORE the Die Sale ends! You will soon see why!

Here’s where we’re headed…

You can see that I’ve made more than a card too! Why stop there when you’re having fun?! I enjoyed making a matching coaster and bookmark out of the same scrap run! Let me show you how…

These are the main ingredients: The Nested Circles Die Set and some A4 double-sided Adhesive sheets

Get your adhesive sheets HERE

Since we’re on the Circle Die (sounds like a London Underground Line!), let’s look again… This trick will work with not only the Nested Circles, but also the Squares & Hexagons

All available HERE

Right. Let’s get started.

  1. Cut a sheet of A4 double-sided adhesive in half lengthways.
  2. You need a load of scrap strips. We are always trimming papers and cards. I bet many of you keep all those bits, don’t you? The strips should be about 1cm wide and long enough to span half the adhesive sheet.

3. Peel the Clarity paper back an inch at at time, and start placing strips along the sticky back. Butt each strip up to the next one, considering contrast. But don’t overthink it. And don’t worry about the overhang – so to speak!

4. Once you have done enough, trim the sides. The scraps make great bunting for another project, if you cut in enough to keep them all attached.

Enter the Fresh Cut dies…

5. Space the circles and lay them cutting edge down on the scrap rainbow paper.

6. You may have to run the sandwich through your die-cutting machine twice, or add a couple of shims of copy paper for packing. The circle or whichever shape you have gone with will cut beautifully.

7. Peel the backing paper off the larger piece and attach it to a sheet of copy paper. Best way is to lay the sticky part sticky face upwards on the table, then place the copy paper down on it. Once that main frame is in place, peel and attach the circle shapes, rotating them to create contrast.

I LOVE THIS LOOK!

Now you just have to decide how you want to use it. Card first…

I used out new View Ruler to decide which part I wanted for the card.

Had plenty left, so I reached for our Pergamano Coasters and Bookmarks…

There we have it. A really arty way to spend a couple of hours, using up scraps of artwork. I hope you like it. I really think this has got potential. But it’s the twist in the shape that makes it. By the way, the ATC and card I made for my pal Yvonne is different to these – they’re already in the mail!

Back to hospital now, for more tests. All good. Process of elimination. But I really felt the need to do something useful, and help with the sale, so I hope you get something out of this one.

Love always,

Barb x x x

  1. Must give this a go,very creative and as you say a great way to use up the scrap bits that we all have. Hope all goes well at the hospital and they find out if there is a problem or you have been pushing yourself too much and need to slow down. Please take care ❤

  2. That’s such a cool technique Barb. Really simple when you break it down and what a great way to use up all those off cuts of paper and card that we have.
Hope all goes well today and that you’re soon back up and at ‘em.
    Love and hugs xx

  3. This looks great – I have loads of strips of paper/card that I have kept as I was ‘sure they would come in useful one day’!

Take care and hug a Dave and a cat or two!

  4. Cor…. you know how to live! Hope you are not too long at the hospital (how does she know this?) I think that crafting (and cats!) is/are the best way to deal with any life issues – it/they stays the same – unlike us!
    Love

  5. Thank you Barbara, will have a go at that later. hoping all goes well at the hospital today, and that you’re on the mend.

  6. I love a technique with scraps and die cutting into them adds another dimension. Hope the tests go well today – it’s good to get a full MOT once in a while!

  7. Thank you Barbara, I also must have a go at this, as have so many strips and scraps of paper, that may come in handy one day! Hope all goes well at the hospital, sending love and gentle hugs. xx

  8. What a great idea for using those strips of paper that we refuse to throw away just in case we need them 😂
Hope all goes well at the hospital and they let you know asap if they find anything significant- that’s the worst bit waiting for the results, thankfully you haven’t had to wait long for the tests.
Take care and rest up when you get home as it is surprising how much it takes out of you just going to the appointment. Love and hugs Sue xx

  9. Lovely artwork, Barbara. The piecing together of all the different paper scraps, I feel, requires and eye for colour matching / contrasting and spontaneity: you either have both (and you do in spades) or, like me, don’t, but, that doesn’t mean I’m not open to having a go given your inspiration and hand holding step by step (after all I do have all the stash required 😉). It will just take me much longer and much deliberation (spontaneity is a bit alien to me); as my OH says about all of my crafting ventures, they are good but I’d never make a living at it (I’ll leave that to you and fellow experts – I know – there are no experts in the building – mmmm!).😂
I will be thinking of you today and truly hope you get some answers and a treatment plan.
    xx

  10. I’ve got a good number of scraps to use up so this will be useful, I remember seeing it and then you forget!

Hope you get your problem sorted soon and you can start to recover. Feeling out of sorts today myself but can’t put my finger on it and nothing painful just muzzy I think.

Off to double check my dies again, put in an order at the weekend but can always find time for another ! X

  11. That’s a great trick for using up ‘scraps’!

I see the sale is going well. My 2 orders arrived today, a welcome surprise after spending two days at the hospital with hubby, so tiring but he is improving.

  15. A great demon. Hope all will be ok with hospital. Praying that you have a speedy recovery and that you are able to relax. Looking forward to hearing and seeing you soon

  16. What great ideas.
I hope that you get to the bottom of what ever is going on and that it is easily sorted and you are feeling better soon.
My husband came out of hospital after a 2 week stay but started to get really confused, we have now put it down to his new water tablets his dose has now been cut down and after spending Sunday morning in hospital it looks like he might also have a bladder infection, the antibiotics seem to be working and he is starting to get better.
Thank you for my extra birthday points, they were a nice surprise in all the madness that has been going on our life.

  17. Hi Barb, what a great step by step, love the rotating of the cut shapes, will have to give this one a go definitely. Hope the hospital visit went well. Take care of yourself please. Bx

  18. getting a diagnosis is so helpful to one’s mental state i think, hope these tests bring that forward as then you will get a plan and we all know how you love a plan!
Love the demo, great way of using some of the “few” scraps we all have around. Sending love

  19. Thanks for taking the time to do a great blog. Good luck at the hospital, I hope they manage to sort you out.
    Love and hugs
    Yvonne
