Oooh-la-la!!

Oooh-la-la!!

Hi there

Just thought I’d pop in to say hi and bye! Grace and I are off to Paris today, for a little break. Cowboy boots are packed – Beyoncé here we come!! Dave offered to hold the fort and feed the cats – trés bien.

We’re letting the train take the strain…Eurostar from London to Paris in just over 2 hours. The train tickets cost a pretty penny, but flying is a hassle at either end, and driving would mean parking in Paris. Trés TRÉS cher! Also, we’ve never taken the Eurostar, so it will be an experience.

The Clarity Club Members Half Price Sale is in full throttle, which might seem like a strange time for me to disappear! But actually, it’s perfect timing. The phones, orders, picking and packing are not really my area in the business. I have a super competent team who handle all those aspects, from manufacture to packaging etc. I am always there if there is an issue, and always ready to roll my sleeves up if that’s what’s needed. But they are perfectly capable. In fact, while a sale is going on, the focus is on that side of the building, not on my side of the building at all! So if I’m going to have a break, that’s the ideal time!

So what is my side of the building? I hear you ask. I ask myself that same question often! Well, if I had to simplify my job description, I guess I’m part of the IDEAS department, the design studio, the conceptualisation point.

That’s another very valid reason for a break – not that I need to justify a holiday! But as a designer, you do need to see new things, widen your horizon, have your eyes opened, expand your mind – explore. Pencils and sketchbook are packed for sure! Tickets booked for the Palace of Versailles, too. And we’ve booked a half day walking tour of Paris Highlights tomorrow, so comfy shoes are dans la valise aussi! (pronounced don la vallease oh see).

I also think it’s important to stop the thinking, shut down the constant hassle and hustle. Pump the brakes.

I’m not very familiar with Paris. I have been several times, but never for longer than an overnight. And only ever for business. So this will be an adventure.

Will have lots to tell you when we get back! Have a great week – we will !!

Love always,

Barb x x x

  19. Enjoy. I love Paris. An off the track place to visit is the musee de cluny once home of the duke of burgundy. It houses the truly beautiful 16C millefleurs tapestries of the lady with the unicorn. Store it away for a future adventure if you don’t have time this visit. xx

  20. Barbara and Grace have a good time.
May Dave and I booked the Eurostar for a special millenimum package in 2000
Meals included on board, we hurried down the platform and thought we had the correct carraige and jumped on board, the carraige looked a bit grotty Then someone got out a packet of fags and I said we are in the wrong carraige.
We jumped of quickly because it was nearly about to go. We dashed down the platform and what a difference, welcome onboard here is your complmentery newspaper. We were going to Lille for the day at Christmas time, and I got blisters from the new heels I was wearing, have you tried to ask for plasters in French. Well have a great time you two love Janet Cummings xx
