New York New York

Hi there.

Thanks for popping in. Thought we’d take a whistlestop trip to New York. Here are a few snapshots from our last visit to see Grace in 2019.

Check out the mural…

Here’s a skyline of Manhattan from the water,

…and here’s the lady herself.

Coming into port, and the Freedom Tower literally towers above you. It’s a powerful reminder of what man is totally capable of. Destroying and rebuilding alike.

New York . A fascinating place. Packed with old and new, loud and quiet.

Here’s a little artcard using our new Skyscape Die. Available as a trio set or individually. I love these dies. They remind me of Bustle and Art and Culture – and I miss being a tiny speck in a metropolis. There’s something very safe in that vastness. Makes you understand your insignificance.

Made using double-sided Designer Paper from the Waimea Falls Collection.

Whether you visit The Big Apple in the daytime…

or you enjoy the flipside night life…

one thing’s for certain: you’ll never get bored. It’s a fabulous city. Can’t wait to visit again.

The BIG Dream is from our new Feel Good Two way stamps. CLICK HERE to investigate

It’s okay to plan ahead isn’t it? Well, I look forward to walking along the Highline again. I reckon you could walk the length of it every day for a year – and STILL see something new.

Keep safe.

Love and Hugs

  1. Would love to go there Barb
I have already asked Grace if she would accompany me to the sights
You can come as well lol

    Is the Pope a catholic
    Lol lol 😂

  2. No I don’t think I will ever go to New York.
It reminds me to much of 9/11 and the time my husband became very ill…. We were at that time on holiday in Northumberland near Berwick upon Tweed when this happen and it was our last holiday too.
Although I like to go to the USA to go to Amish county–I am so fascinated by there way of living and like to talk to them.
    Lots of love, Trijntje Huppel

  3. I still cannot believe I was one of the “limerick” winners. Tnak you for the gift voucher, it is much appreciated.
Hope it will not be too long before you are able to visit Grace (and New York) again. You obviously love it.
This cities set is great, but here’s a suggestion, Greece – the Patthenon, Italy – the Colosseum, Austrlia – Sydney Opera House to name just a few. I am sure you could think of many more to make a lovely world set. Great artwork above.
My A3 parchment arrived today, so pleased to have it back in my stash. I have a large frame with multiple apertures in it and needed the larger sheets to make the display rather than trying to stick individual small pieces to the back of the frame. Just hope I don’t make any mistakes as butterflies won’t fit behind the glass – hahaha!!
Looking forward to the ODS. Got it on record so I don’t miss anything. I love Linda’s work.
    Stay safe.

  4. So much has changed since my only visit to New York in 1999. I would love to return one day. Thank you for sharing your photos and memories

  5. The dies look brilliant Barbara, so do the cards. Beautiful photos too. Would have loved to go to New York, but not now, wouldn’t manage all the sitting on a long flight with my back. I’m sure you’ll be able to go there soon, especially if they are doing as well as we are with the vaccinations.

  6. That’s one thing we didn’t do when we were in NY – walk the High Line. Another time maybe; amazing city

  7. Oh I love New York and found it so interesting. I would love to go back, but OH isn’t keen and overseas visits are now to Vancouver to see our family.
I can imagine how excited you will be when travel is safe again and you can visit Grace, or her you.
I am sitting here in Milton Keynes, watching the snow settling in the garden. After 15 degrees on Sunday, it is really odd. I am taking my granddaughter out in the morning, so will catch up with the SHAC later. Have a good evening. Hugs. Annette X

  8. Love NY…. A wow factor around every corner. We were there in May 2001……gotva great photo of the Skyline from the Staten Island Ferry when the Twin Towers were still standing…… Alas the next time we went they no longer stood. 😢

  9. When I lived in Chelmsford I was in a Community Choir. We visited New York to sing. We were so well received. We sang on the Red Steps in Times Square, at the Statue of Liberty, around John Lennon’s Imagine memorial in Central Park oh we had a ball. The memories will remain with me forever. I would love to go back. As they say a City that never sleeps

  10. Bea and I went to New York about 2004. I’m not sure exactly, but the Church where the people who worked so very hard after 9/11 had been, and there were messages about missing people on the fences. The site had been cleared but nothing built then. It was so moving and the atmosphere there was like nothing we’d ever experienced. We loved NY and would love to have gone back, but it won’t happen now. We were lucky to go when we did.

  11. I loved New York when I was there about 15 years ago – funnily enough we stayed in Chelsea so visited the square in your photo. Would be so good to be able to go back again. Brilliant shows on Sunday – I thought this card was fab when you demo’ed it.

  12. Oh I would love to go there. I hope you get to go back as soon as you can Barbara. There is so much to consider these days. Those dies are gorgeous. Have a good evening. Take care. Hugs xxx

  13. I was in New York on the first anniversary of 9/11; an experience I will never forget. People thanked us for being there ‘to support them. On the previous day we went to a service in memory of the British who died; 5th Avenue was full of 400 British police who had given up their holiday and paid for themselves to go there in support of the emergency workers; an astonishing sight. Many more memories; such a privilege to be there. Unforgettable.

  14. Hopefully things will continue to improve and travel restrictions be lifted so that you can make that wonderful trip to see Grace. So excited to have won the egg hunt – looking forward to receiving the goodies. xx

  15. I love New York and look forward to going again one day. The first time we went my husband and friends arranged it as a surprise for me as the previous year I had been diagnosed with breast cancer. That was 19 years ago and we arrived on Thanksgiving evening so we saw all the Christmas lights. Incidentally the next morning we were walking up Lexington Avenue and heard a shout and met someone from our home village.
I always wanted to go, just once (I thought!) and my husband wasn’t that keen. He loved it too and we have been back a few times but have never been to the Highline garden. The first time we saw the devastation of 9/11 and the last time we went up the Freedom Tower. Xx

  16. Hi Barbara
We have been lucky enough to have visited NYC twice once on my sisters 50th she is 60 this year and in 2014 on our own. We spent many hours at museums MOMA was our favourite. We also went to the 9/11 gardens which was memorable. Not sure I want to travel abroad again but my niece is off to play football at Delta State University in Mississippi in July which she is very excited about.
Hope it will not be too long before you can visit Grace and Mark fingers crossed 🤞.
    Love Ruth & Jackie xx

  17. Hi Barb,
I’ve never been to America and as I hate flying, I probably never will get there. My cousin lives in North Carolina and keeps asking us to go but I couldn’t last all that time on a plane. I hope that you will be able to get to the States before much longer to see Grace and Mark – it will be lovely for you. Love and hugs,Alison xxxx
