It’s seldom what it seems….

It’s seldom what it seems….

Hi there.

Thanks for popping in. Day off today. Just needed a day away from the coalface, a day to regroup, untangle the old brain. And what better way to do that than……

P O T T E R Y ! ! ! ! !

I had started these two towers earlier in the month, which were to become vases, or jugs or something sexy.

Real easy to construct. You roll out the clay like pastry and just wrap it round a tube!

But then I got to thinking. What if you could cut these towers into slices? And that’s where the Potterhat came off – and the Claritycrafterhat went on!

So what are they? What am I doing here? Any ideas? 16 hoops….

Tell me what you think. What are these rings?

Anyway, I must go and burnish them now. I brought them all home with me to polish !! Mad as a box of frogs.

Don’t forget to tune in to Maria on HOCHANDA.com. Fantastic demos with the new Mixed Media dies. Watch on Catch up 6pm and 8pm this evening. Then 9am 1pm and 5pm tomorrow.

Love & Hugs

  1. Hi Barbara 😄 join them together to make a loopy grid, then use it to hang scarves, ties, belts etc 😊 xx

  2. I reckon they are serviette rings. That was my first guess so I am sticking to that. Glad you took time to relax at pottery after such a busy week. You might like to know that I have framed that lovely stencil piece you gave me on Saturday, and put it where I can read it as I pass. xxx Maggie (Silvercrafter)

  3. Evening bloggy friends, rain, thunder and a huge amount of lightning. More rain at the moment and possibly more storms…weather is never boring here is it?!! Xx

    1. Hi Donna, we were told we’d get that last night, passed us by, didn’t even have a heavy down pour, just normal ! X

  4. Well, I think they’re two big for napkin rings, although that was my first thought. What else can you do with them ? Can’t wait to find out. Glad you got a day off ! X

  5. Glad you had some ‘ME’ time and sorted out your pottery. No idea what you have in mind for the rings but will be interested to find out.
Not managed to watch Maria yet but have recorded todays shows.
Rained all day today but no thunder or lightening. Looks like the forecast for next week is hot and humid for a few days. Typical British summer !!!
    🍒🍒🍒

  6. Your rings are intriguing, I even googled to see how much clay shrinks during drying & firing !! so although they look too large for napkin rings it could well be the answer after shrinkage but I look forward to the full reveal in due course.
I have watched both of Maria’s shows tonight & am now well & truly on the naughty step. Plenty of ideas buzzing in my head just need to remember them when my goodies arrive.

  7. Napkin rings for the Christmas table would look great 👍. Glad you had a day offa slight different way of thinking 🤔 is good for us all night night sleep well xx

  8. Hello Barb, well I think I am totally stumped on this one, too big for napkin rings – Some kind of decoration perhaps. Glad you got to have a day away and enjoy something different. Bx

  9. Mmmmm – I’m thinking maybe a lovely mobile or a windchime if you glaze them in different colours and hang them up at different heights? Can’t wait to see what they actually become!

  10. Hi,
More on the pottery. I picture them as some sort of wall art.
    May be all joined together.
    Or some unique wall storage

  11. I think it’s going to be an ornamental wall hanging! By the way that packaging would make great decoupatch paper!
