Youtube Tuesday 1st May – Scrapaperart

Youtube Tuesday 1st May – Scrapaperart

Hi there.
Thanks for dropping by.
Getting back in my stride now…although I have to say, the old jetlag is really extreme this time.
Still all over the place! Mind you, when you see the messy, inky demo in this week’s Youtube,
you’ll just say, “What’s new, Barb?”
Yep, it’s time for another YouTube Tuesday tutorial.
In this week’s video, I’m showing you how to create your own background papers, your own original Scrap-paper-art.

Told you it got messy, didn’t I?! I just watched it back and had to chuckle.
If a visitor from another planet watched this, he or she would think they’d definitely stumbled on a primitive species!
Remember the SMASH potato adverts? When the little Aliens fell about laughing, saying,
“and then they peel them. hahahahahaahahahaa” (go on, say it in the alien voice).
I can hear them now,
“…..and then she calls it art! Hahahahaahahahaha”
Ah well, never let it be said I took myself too seriously!
With each YouTube video, there is 20% off products used in the video, which lasts until, well, next week’s video!
Don’t forget your 10%/15% club discounts are added on top, too.
Included in this week’s offers are:

Distress Re-inkers
Spritzer Bottles
Clear Display Stands

Alternatively, you can view all our current offers here
Right. That’ll have to do. I have got so much prep to do for the coming TV weekend.
Firstly, as I mentioned, Tina is back on Saturday, and I’m going up to support and cheer.
Then on Sunday more exciting stuff! (according to the Book of Barbie)
I shall be launching a superb new set of arty stamps. Mel designed the images,
but wait till you see what we’ve come up with!
We have called them 3-way overlay stamps, and they really, really turn me on!
Was lying in bed last night, and my little jetlag head was conjuring up all sorts of art with them!
Look out aliens! I’m on a roll!!!!
Love and hugs,
Barb
xxxx

  4. Your looking well Barb . Enjoyed the video .l had a play with my gel plate after Louise’s workshop great fun … looking forward to seeing the shows at the weekend and it’s pay day Friday whoop whoop

  5. I have a similar pile of stencil card potential backgrounds. They were all created by swooshing the card through the spritzed left over ink on the blending mat. The rest of the class used to look at me as if I were completely crazy, but who cares. They have given n me so many great backing cards. I am looking forward to the programmes at the weekend, although my bank manager won’t be. xxx Maggie

  6. Ooh I used to LOVE that advert. ‘And then they peel them with their metal knives’ !!
I watched the YouTube video earlier and loved it! The weekend sounds very exciting and expensive (Alison)!! Looking forward to it all. Love and hugs, Gilly xxx

Speedy recovery from the dreaded jet lag xxTheresa

  9. This is such a great idea to make a variety of colourful backgrounds Barbara and thank you for showing us the poly bag idea to contain the ink. Looking forward to seeing some of them used. x

  10. Me and Keira can’t wait to for the weekend. She’s already set it in the planner to record 😂. I had to YouTube the SMASH advert for her as she’s never seen it (the young ones don’t know what their missing!). We both can’t wait to try this Technique.

  11. Hi Barb,
Good to have you back. Watched the YouTube video this afternoon and I’m amazed that you weren’t covered in ink! If that had been me, there would have been ink squishing out of the plastic bag and all over the place!!! Really looking forward to seeing Tina back on our screens – new ii books, yeah!- and then new stamps. Really intrigued to see what these are, but you sound so excited about them that they must be good! Love and hugs,Alison xxxx

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Lovely sunny day here today ( bit chilly though) for a change. Sending love and hugs to all, Alison xxx

  12. That Smash advert always takes me right back to my childhood! Love this technique Barbara – I wonder if it would work with the Distress Oxides too? Hopefully I’ll get a chance to try at the weekend – in between watching your shows of course. x

  13. I have quite a stack of backgrounds made with leftover ink and paint. I must now have a session with inks!
Looking forward to seeing the new stamps.
Hope you conquer the jet lag soon x

  14. Well, last weekend I was at our kitchen table with Jo, my son’s partner, playing with the Gel press and stencil card. Think next time it will be inks and copy paper! When I come down to the retreat I shall have to treat myself to the larger gel press and some stencils to go with. Ooh and some Golden Open paint! Birthday present to self lol.

I s loving these You Tube Tuesdays!

Hope the jet lag does a long run off a short pier very soon and looking forward to seeing the snows xx

  15. Another helpful ‘You Tube’ demo, if only my recorder worked. I will catch what I can at the weekend and then hopefully rewind. Good to have you back Barbara.

  16. Used to love that advert, and tucked away in a box is a clockwork smash alien, who gets a airing and a runaround when I come across him. Bought as a Christmas present for my lovely dad, who just adored the advert, but not the product! My inky backgrounds are my mop ups from left over ink, as I don’t like to waste it, by just wiping it away. Looking forward to the shows and seeing the new goodies. xx

  17. Hello Barb, one of my favourite videos, I love your messy art, and how you create beauty from scrap. Looking forward to the shows. Take care all. Bx

  18. I didn’t get the chance to look at the blog last night, as we went out to dinner for our wedding anniversary (47 years!). In place of a long service medal, I think I deserve a reward from the promised goodies on the weekend shows. I can’t wait to see what is on offer!
    Annette X

  19. Hope the jet lag goes soon, sure the holiday was worth it. Brilliant u tube demo and will stay with me now with the Smash aliens in my head. Really cheered me up. So excited about weekend with you and Tina on Hochanda. 😀
