It’s a good job.

It’s a good job.

Hi there.
Thanks for popping in.
It’s a good job I have learned not to say what I think.
Because if I said what I thought right now, it would make some people blush, it would embarrass others, it would give the gobby few a platform to accuse me of not understanding how a democracy works. And despite being asked to tread gently and be kind, they will come bulldozing through the lives of my friends, blurting out their opinions and crushing people.
So it’s a bloody good job I have learned not to say what I think, or I might tell them what I really think of their ignorant behaviour.
And that would not do at all, would it?
One day, I may just forget the rule of civility too. And on that day, look out. Because my memory is very, very good.

  1. Well not sure why has happened but we’ll said but sending hugs cause people who hurt others have no time in my life would waste breath on them good for you. Lots love hugs xxx

  2. Am assuming something to do with social media.

    "Social Media", in the hands of the wrong people, not very social, but we should be thankful that most people reading the garbage published know only too well that the writer of such garbage belongs in the garbage. Don't dwell on it, life is much too short and even shorter for the garbage.

  3. I’ve no idea what this is all about as for the past few hours it’s been kitchen work for tonight, tomorrow and the next day. However it’s not difficult to surmise. My maxim for ever, long remembered from my favourite childhood book -Charles Kingsley’s ‘The Water Babies’ is ‘Do as you would be done by:’ her counterpart rarely triggered any memory thus cementing that kindness was the way to go. I don’t harbour grudges but like you Barbara, I never forget and if a day of reckoning beckons, so be it. ;~}

    1. I think everyone should be made to read The Water Babies. I hope that the other lady in there, Mrs Be Done By As You Did,will deal with that unkind, thoughtless and downright mean minority that try to spoil things for us, the vast majority. xxx

    2. Thanks, Maggie. Never did give credence to Mrs BDBAYD, or as I recollect calling her Mrs Biddy Bade. I first read this at the age of seven, a book from the local library and much to my father’s disgust – not the book content but the book’s condition! I think I will rake out my long neglected copy and have another ‘good read.’ ;~}}

    3. 'Do as you would be done by' was the school motto where our children all went. I often still quote it today. Not sure I have ever read the Water Babies, think I must. I have read most of the classics. xx

  4. Hi Barb,
    I have no idea what has happened, but it is obviously something that has deeply upset you, which is upsetting for all of us who think the world of you and Clarity. Like Maggie I was always told that if I had nothing good or nice to say then I had to say nothing. It is something that I try to do and tried to instill in my students when I was teaching. I am so sorry that something horrible has been said or done and all I can say is God help whoever did or said this thing if you see them!! Well said anyway. I hope you have a better day tomorrow . Sending love and hugs to you, Alison xxxx

  5. Unfortunately I did see what I think you are referring to and was so saddened by it. As someone has already said,if you don’t have anything good to say don’t say anything at all. We all have different views on things but we don’t always have to share them in a place where we feel good to see how much everyone is trying to help each other out. Sorry this has upset you after such a nice time in New York with Grace. I am sure you dress is lovely and you will look stunning as always. Hugs from Canada.

  6. I don’t have anything to do with social media so I have no idea what happened. I don’t understand why people wish to make negative comments. Some people have no filter and they don’t stop to think how hurtful their comments can be, don’t give them a moments thought. xx

  7. Social media can be a double edged sword but on the whole most people treat it sensibly, but there will always be those that don't Barbara. I know it is hard not to get upset but these sorts of people don't deserve the satisfaction of knowing they have got under your skin. Sending you a big hug. x

  8. Morning Barbara, I was so upset with the comment made yesterday on fb, I thought it was out of order and said so, then I started to get comments. I don't know how you stopped yourself.

    I very rarely comment on the blog but read it avidly every day, would not be without it. I know everyone at Clarity work so hard to bring us the most amazing products and there are some things that may not be my cup of tea but I certainly would never dream of saying so on such a platform.

    How about donuts all round for everyone to day. Keep your chin up.

    Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  9. Hi Barbara – well said! I am sure the air was blue in your home last night, and with good reason. I did see what has upset you and totally agree with all you have said. Moving on to happier things – just been catching up on the blog & I am very pleased that the important dresses are all sorted. Love and hugs, Gilly xxx

  10. I didn't see what has upset you so much, but I can clearly see from your words that it hurt you to the core. You have chosen to be kind and respectful in your response and kindness is a lesson that many people need to learn. X

  11. I had a few choice words at the end of my fingertips I can tell you, but decided not to use them. I just can't get my head around the nastiness of people. Went to bed bloody angry and having had to reign my responses in. Well, I've been having low BP readings, bet they are up today!

  12. Hi Barbara,
    Sorry for writing in german today but I think it´s about the same words Shelagh wrote: "Do as you would be done by"

  13. I saw what was said, it made my heart sad so many people are so unkind in this world craft for me transcends all the rubbish I see in the world and takes me to a happy place. Not long ago I left a few groups because of sometimes thinly disguised nastiness, but then I thought about it and I asked to join again, I won't let people win who like to upset people, and I intend to keep enjoying my craft.thank you Barbra for saying what you think. Xxx

  14. I was taught to keep my hubby shut but am sorry when you get to my age you let rip. Why should ignorant people get away with it hurting as they go along their merry way. Might make them think before they speak xx

  15. Did not see the comment but it was obviously very hurtful. Please don't let them get you down and bear in mind there are an awful lot of people out there wearing the Team Gray and Clarity t shirts! Lots of hugs xx

  16. I was amazed at the comments on FB & gave up following that thread so didn't read all the comments but I did see Dave's so gathered that it had grown a pace. If everyone liked everything then life would be very boring as we would all be the same. Everyone has a right to their views but we need to be mindful of how we write it down as the tone of voice or facial expression can not be seen or heard. Lets hope normal helpful grooviness will resume asap. Big hugs xx
