My favourite boy….

My favourite boy….

Hi there.
Thanks for popping in.
Had a little hour to myself this afternoon,
realigning my head after a mental morning at work.
Since the paints and Gel Press plate were still on the worktop where I had abandoned them last night, I carried on!
No particular direction;
just more paint and a brayer, combined with my favourite boy.
Well, no, let me qualify that – my favourite boy stamp.

My favourite boy is quite without question Mark, my lad.
His shoulder is healing well, and thank you for all your good wishes.
I pulled the print off onto Kraft card, which came out well.
and added highlights with our white pencils
(lifetime supply, remember??)

Used pencils to add light and shade to a moon and the hills I saw.
Ran round the outside with a black Sharpie pen and then roughed the edges with a edge of my scissors.

Added a little town in the distance..
Crowborough methinks.
You can see our house from here!

Yes, and that was it.
A scrap background print,
and the hope that both my kids will come home one day.
Love & Hugs
Barb

    1. Hi to you all! Yes, Spain is a very attractive prospect at the moment – especially as I am told the weather is beautiful at the moment! We are both ok thanks Jackie – had a visit to the dentist & Neill is having some hospital appointments, but so far all is good! xxx

  1. This is fabulous I do love this stamp set it is on my wish list! I LOVE the background you created too. So happy that Mark's shoulder is healing and hope he continues to recover. Enjoy your evening.
    Hugs to you both

    1. Hi Donna,
All 3! Wet break! Ugh! At least my duty was in the dining hall so didn't get wet like the ones who had outside duty who still had to go outside to catch the smokers!! Mind you the noise in the dining hall was horrendous! Don't know why teenagers can't talk to each other – they always have to shout even if the person is only a couple of feet away! Love and hugs Alison xxx

  2. He is a lovely boy. Just been using a white pencil on my black parchment to enhance the embossing, not one of the lifetime supply though, just a spectrum noir – contradiction in terms I think white pencil/noir ? …. Nearly gave up but I'm soldiering on with it. If I tried a little village like that heaven knows what it would turn out like – a blot of the landscape probably ! Have a good evening, I'm sure the children will return like boomerangs one day but at least they are settled and in touch. Xx

  3. That stamp is in my folder under favourites! I like it because it has so much movement, freedom and hope, all in one image!
Beautiful piece of artwork. I want to get my gel press out tomorrow! An inky painty fix is long overdue!
    Hope Mark continues to improve.
    Love and hugs xxx

  4. Hi Barbara, beautiful artwork, and it really captures your mood. Makes me feel very sad for you, you feeling so lonely from your kids. I do hope they decide to come back home to you for good in the near future. Glad Mark's shoulder is healing fine. Thank you for blogging and sharing your art. I must try that white pencil technique, I love the effect.

Hope you can have a chill Mindfulness evening, and a less busy day tomorrow
    Love Brenda xx

    1. Thanks Alison, still pretty unwell, so I'm really limited in what I can do just now. It's bite sized bits of craft!!! Hope your knee is improving and you're enjoy more freedom now xx

  5. Awesome piece of artwork Barb – what gorgeous colours. Glad Mark is healing well too. One day they may both return to the fold – even if it is to look after their poor worn out mum. Lol xxxx

  6. Love the artwork and have never tried to pull a print on kraft card, but I really like the effect. Glad Mark is on the mend. Never got into my craft room today as it was a beautiful day so we took a trip to Abriachan gardens on Loch Ness to see the snowdrops. Maybe it will rain tomorrow? x

  7. Hi Barbara, beautiful art I love the colours you have used.
I watched all the shows yesterday the lady did good. Lots of information for us all to digest.
Well after watching you and Tina last time Tina showed us some picot cutting well I think I had a light bulb moment got it At last now need the new pink mat for embossing .
Must keep going and it will get easier.
    Love the new easter plates.
Glad to hear Mark is improving.
    Lynn xx

  8. Hi Barbara
Love this stamp, he is so useful for many occasions. Ooooh kraft card and gelli plate, I need to play! What an amazing background, the hills and village and clouds are all there ready to highlight, fantastic. It's good to hear Mark is on the mend, it's hard when they are so far away and have had an operation or are injured and you just wasn't to be with them. I'm sure they will be home for some home cooking and mum time again soon.
    Love Diane xxx

  9. Hi Barb,
Wow! This is gorgeous, I love it! Dave is right, it deserves a place in your gallery. It will look beautiful framed. I do hope that one day Grace and Mark do come home for good. Glad to hear Mark's shoulder is coming along nicely. Had to ring Clarity towers today and Jeanine was so helpful, polite and nothing was too much trouble for her. Your staff certainly do you proud. Love and hugs Alison xxx
Ps forgot to say my happy post came today – all 3 are brilliant.

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Hope you're all ok. Been one day ahead of myself today – convinced it was the 28th. Got up at 6.30am( unheard of these days) as someone was coming to assess some damage on a table sometime between 8am and 1 pm. I was cursing like mad when he didn't show up. Then I happened to look at the calendar and realised he's coming tomorrow, so another early morning!!! I think senility is setting in! Better get to bed then, love and hugs to you all, Alison xxx

  10. This stamp is always a go to for you Barbara and I always love it. The background is great with him and the white pencil adds some beautiful highlights. So glad that Mark is recovering well. x
