Offset that Parchment Overlay!!

Offset that Parchment Overlay!!

Hi there!
Good of you to drop in.

What a great few days we have had with our retreat guests.
Thank you so much to those of you who came and invested so much time, energy and money in a couple of Clarity days
with Paul and myself.
Hope it was worth it for them.
So a day of rest tomorrow, and then we take it from the top on Monday.
Really looking forward to it.

So now to today’s blog.
Saturday’s blog a new technique…

Well, on Thursday, I alluded to Golden Open Acrylic Paints on Parchment. Many of you found this interesting. So many thanks Elaine for the heads up!

I want to see about another fabulous open colour paint,
Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold
and want to use the stencil a little differently…

Shall we try it?

Spread a little Nickel Azo Gold over our 8″ x 10′ Gel Printing Plate

It’s a slow drying, oily acrylic.

Blot well with copy paper, rubbing the back well and thoroughly
in between the detailed stencil parts,
and pull the copy paper print at the same time.

This yellow piece will be our background….

Now let’s make another piece.
Lay the stencil down on the not cleaned printing plate.
Brayer Azo Gold over it thinly.

Add a tiny amount of the blue we worked with on Thursday.
Phthalo Blue.

Lift the stencil off the Gel Printing plate.
We are going to run it through our mangle aka E-Bosser.
The aim of the exercise is to transfer the paint from the stencil to Parcment….

Lay a piece of A4 Parchment on top, make your embossing sandwich with all the various plates…
and run it through the mangle of your choice.

Comes out really really brilliantly!
These are the 2 pieces we need.

Run the Crafters glue runner around all four sides of the white stencil frame printed on the copy paper.

Lay the parchment piece over the yellow copy paper piece,
offset it a tad to create a 3-D effect.
And stick down.

Let’s go in a little more closely….

Trim back the outer edges…

Mount on a white card.

The paint dries beautifully and quite quickly.
And doesn’t it look 3-D?!?

There is so much to explore here!

But if I yawn any wider I’ll dislocate my jaw!

Night night
Love & Peace always,

    1. Oooh… spoilsport… go on give me a clue…no don't… yes do…. no don't! Really don't… my friend Anne and I are attending for the very first time this year and we're so excited, we just can't hide it (sounds like a song…hmmmn!) Seriously we are so looking forward to it – we'll be like kids in a sweet shop when we get there!!!!

    2. Ha ha… knew that would be the case and rightly so…. seriously can't wait. Only 'slight cloud on the horizon' is the long drive down from the North East but it will be sooooo worth it! xx

  4. Just home from watching a live relay of Andre Rieu's concert from Maastricht. What a great performer and what a happy, emotional atmosphere. So pleased all went well with the final retreat for this week. Love the seed demo, I don't have the paints you used Barbara but will try the technique with what I have. Sleep well and enjoy family time tomorrow.

  5. Hi Barbara
This looks beautiful, I haven't got these paints but think I might have to have a play. Yes it does look 3D, you are clever. Enjoy your day off tomorrow, feet up, vitamin D intake in the garden and some quality time with Dave. Ignore the housework ( well perhaps a bit of washing so you have a few clean undies!!), it will still be there next week. Take care
    Love Diane xxxx

    1. Hello my lovely blog friends, it's been another warm day down south, Warner than we all thought it would be! Had some lovely family time today, we've just finished watching Lady in the Van, hadn't realised it had broadstairs in it, haven't been there for years, we need to go there again soon. I hope everyone is ok. Sending hugs all round. Xxxx

  7. Must get my Gelli printing plate out, need to try out some backgrounds. Haven't got the paints you have used here but I suppose it'll work with System 3 ones if you work quickly enough. It definitely looks 3D, love that stencil too. Ordered all the Africa stamps and a few groovy and sale items, was getting withdrawal symptoms, ha ha. Enjoy your day off tomorrow, have some Dave and You, Me time and relax. Love and hugs Pam xx

  8. Hi to all my lovely blog friends, hope you've all had a relaxing Saturday and some nice weather to boot. Enjoy the rest of the Weekend too. Love and hugs, Pam xx

  9. Hello Barbara

What a lovely piece of work. Thanks to you and Paul and my first retreat I am no longer scared of my Gel Plate.

All of you who are still to go on retreat are in for a real treat. Enjoy.

Once again, thank you, Barbara and Paul.

  10. Just wanted to say a great big thank you to you, Paul, Jane (enjoy your birthday celebrations), Dave, all those working behind the scene plus those fellow crafters attending for making the workshop such a lovely two days. I really enjoyed it and learnt a lot.
Hope the gap ache soon goes completely.

  11. Hello Barb, yet more inspiration with the gel plate, paint and parchment. Love the result. So pleased to hear the retreats went well. Take care. Bx

  12. Really like this affect Barb will have to give it a go when I can get my mojo back into gear. Coming off my current antidepressants to go on some new ones so I ain't got any drive to do anything at the moment. Still I am hoping that there is light at the end of the tunnel and when I get the new ones into my system it will be just that systems all go! Glad your tooth seems to be getting better. Have a good rest Sunday from your retreats. Much love Jayne

  13. Really like the idea of off-setting the stencils to give dimension. Might have a play this afternoon after my trip to the dump! My new gardener has gone to town on the beds and bushes, so a fortnightly garden waste collection is no longer enough – I'm on first name terms with the council staff now tho! Enjoy your day off X

  14. Have been on for couple days as away for weekend no internet no signal so quiet weekend out in a village pub for roast dinner waiting for dinner. Glad your first week went well love Joy and big hugs from Katie xxx
