2 Days to Christmas

2 Days to Christmas

Ho ho ho!

Well, it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas now, isn’t it? Trees twinkling everywhere, Christmas lights in all the windows and gardens. Ours is quite modest; I am more of a natural pine cone wreath gal…

We leave it to the neighbours to illuminate the street. There’s a whole row of houses up the main road which have gone all in for merry and blinding! It’s quite magnificent really. Bold. Fearless. Bright. Very bright. And flashing. There’s one big ‘ouse round the corner here, where there’s even a snow making machine at the gates. I may take a walk round there later, when it’s dark, and take a few pics for tomorrow’s blog…

Time to wrap a few gifts. Ironically, I am not a fan of wrapping presents. Maybe down to the thousands of Clarity boxes I had to pick n pack back in the day when it was Me, Myself and Irene Great movie, by the way!). My friend Carron gave me some sound advice this morning, when I headed over to her house at the crack of sparrows to get my hair done.

“Mince pie, pot of tea, then find a good Christmas movie and settle down to pack your presents in front of the box.” That actually sounds pretty doable. Movies… now that’s a good question. Carron recommended “This is Christmas, so I may try that one.

Let me recommend a particular favourite too, just in case you haven’t seen it: Four Christmases, with Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon. If you want a proper belly laugh, then that’s the one. There’s one scene which has me wheezing with laughter every time I watch it. Comedy gold.

Now it’s YOUR turn. If you had an evening on your hands, to do the wrapping, which Christmas Film/Movie would you recommend? Pray tell!

We can use your list here as a real community recommendation board – a little Clarity crowd-sourced guide to festive wrapping evenings everywhere.

I’ll start the ball rolling with a few more favourites, just to get us going (purely in the spirit of sharing, you understand 😉):

  • Love Actually – a classic for a reason. Easy to dip in and out of, perfect if you’re wrestling with sellotape.
  • The Holiday – cosy, comforting, and ideal with a mince pie in hand.
  • Elf – ridiculous, joyful, and guaranteed to lift the mood when the paper tears for the third time.
  • It’s a Wonderful Life – if you fancy something gentler and a little bit heart-tuggy.

So over to you now…
What’s your go-to Christmas wrapping film?
The one you stick on every year, or the one that might make the job feel less like a chore and more like a little December ritual.

Tell us — and let’s build the ultimate wrapping-night watchlist together .

Whatever you are doing, have a lovely Christmas Eve Eve!

Love and Clarity,

  1. A Christmas Carol with Alistair Sim. I watched the end of it the other day just to hear him say, ‘delightful boy!’. I also love The Bishop’s Wife. A similar theme to It’s a Wonderful Life.
Happy Christmas Eve Eve everyone. Xx

    1. My absolute favourite is Miricle on 34th Street.
Richard Attenborough makes the most wonderful Santa.
      Just about to enduldge now!
      Enjoy everyone.
      xx

  2. Mine’s not really a film but the Only Fools & Horses Christmas trilogy. So many laugh out loud bits in it. Hope everyone has a merry Christmas & New Year although it looks like ours may now not be what we planned. Close family member taken into hospital & not expected to last the night so just taking as it comes and supporting each other.

  3. I love any version of a Christmas Carol. Love Alistair Sim and also Albert Finley in the 1970s musical version. My husband likes Scrooged mainly for the fairy ghost and her fisticuffs . I also love Serendipity.
But tomorrow wouldn’t be Christmas Eve without It’s A Wonderful Life. I just adore James Stewart.

I do love your Pinecone Wreath, I don’t decorate outside but just love plain warm white lights in the house, in fact some of them stay up all year round I just love them

  4. Favourite Christmas movies to wrap presents to…
    Miracle on 34th Street
    Mrs. Miracle 1 and 2
    Jack Frost
Santa Clause the Movie with Tim Allen

All heartwarming and just lovely feel good films xXx

  5. It’s a Wonderful Life
    A Christmas Carol (Alistair Sim)
    The Muppets Christmas Carol
    Miracle on 34th Street (1947 B&W)
Santa Claus the Movie (one of the first films I took my son, he was 4, to the cinema to see!)
    Gremlins
    Nightmare Before Christmas

  6. For the past decade or so since we thankfully have no small people staying over, it has been my tradition to wrap presents on Christmas morning/afternoon whilst watching The Snowman films on tv. Relaxing, no stress trying to cook lunch, just dinner at usual time in the evening and unwrap presents whenever we fancy one over the day. I actually enjoy the day again.

My go-to Christmas film is Arthur Christmas and watch it every year. Made by Aardman, it’s funny on so many levels. I always say I must watch It’s a Wonderful Life but don’t as it seems so depressing – maybe this year…

  7. I don’t have a favourite Christmas film…in fact there are so many I haven’t seen…
Must try and be more pro active in 2026 to watch films … But if Dirty Dancing is on when I flick through the channels it is a must! I loved the music.
currently listening to a Christmas compilation cd as I cook fish fingers and chips. …
A quiet Christmas for us as our plans have changed, as of this morning… winter bugs have struck my daughter and family so we are staying at home, son already here to celebrate with us.

  8. Muppets Christmas carol is the one I start with followed by It’s a Wonderful life. In truth I’ll watch even the worst Christmas film 😂😂😂.

  9. Oh, I just love Christmas films! Every year, we start with A Muppet Christmas Carol (Micheal Caine’s finest hour!), then I go for the Alistair Sim version. I love old films and have quite a collection on dvd – The Bishop’s Wife, Christmas in Connecticut, Holiday Affair, It’s a Wonderful Life and the original Miracle on 34th Street. I will also watch the modern tosh on Channel 5 if I have something boring to do, like the ironing – all the films have the same plot, just the setting changes: a bakery, a book shop or toy shop, a Christmas tree farm – and this year, an Alpaca farm!

  10. Me and my neighbour have just walked around the streets – sounds good doesn’t it ! – looking at everyone’s lights !

Watched Four Christmases yesterday, was good and had a good laugh!) and also Deck the Halls with Danny Divito (second time now!). Still love The Grinch and have just watched Love Actually again. I’m sure we can fit in a few more yet. Need to watch It’s a Wonderful Life as I don’t think I’ve seen it completely through.

  11. Polar Express ,we watch it every year. Also a couple of alternative suggestions Scrooged with Bill Murray, Bad santa🎅 starring Billy Bob Thornton. please don’t watch bad santa if you are easily offended! Another winter themed film is One Special Night with Julie Andrews and James Garner available on YouTube x

  12. We don’t have presents to wrap so that is a chore we can ignore. However hubby is a Christmas film fanatic and while we are semi mobile we have watched 3 or 4 films every day since the beginning of October, sounds sad but it really isn’t.
Hubby loves anything with Scrooge in it however weird and wonderful but the George C Scott is my favourite. The Muppets. Miracle on 34th Street. Mrs Miracle 1&2. The Grinch who stole Christmas. All favourites.
We have managed to get everything organised for the next 2 weeks except the butchery which is being delivered tomorrow afternoon by our lovely butcher.
I’m shutting up shop now, no phones, no computers, no interruptions, just peace and quiet for a while which is what we both need.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone in the Clarity community.
