Feeling on top of the world!

Feeling on top of the world!

Hi there!
Greetings from Ljubljana!
Distinct lack of vowels in this language, I cn tll yu!!
Firstly, many many thanks for all the kind birthday wishes and beautiful cards. You do spoil me. xxx
OH MY WORD!!!!
What a brilllllllliant day!
And it’s not over yet!
Firstly the company.
Linda Williams.
What a great travelling companion!
She’s wearing bifocal sunglasses, (snazzy)
so she gets to be the map reader and navigator.

I just get to pose on various bridges.

Here she is!
Now check out the sky!
Blue blue blue.
Beautifully warm spring day.

And so much to see!
Here was a bridge full of padlocks.
A guy told us it was all about love,

but I’m not sure whether that’s true or he just fancied his chances!
He didn’t have a rose between his teeth mind,
but he certainly had puppy dog eyes!

He lured us onto his boat too.
Just the two of us.
Look!
Even got the decks out for us and a couple of blankets.
Linda’s first response was “Ah, green and red for Wales!”

And then we had a private tour – yep front of the boat private tour!
It was absolutely wonderful.

Linda warned me she wasn’t a great swimmer,
so I made sure the safety ring wasn’t too tightly knotted –
you never know….

And the bridges,

one after another.

We waved to the locals, and they waved back.
The Slovenians are very friendly folk.
Especially the boatmen!
(only joking Dave….)

Everywhere, people were basking in the sun,
chattering and laughing.
It was idyllic.

On elderly gent in a wheelchair,

father and son,

lovers…

and all within 100 yards of each other.
Linda felt right at home with the dragons everywhere.
Let me rephrase that!
She’s Welsh, remember??

Then we climbed up the hill to the castle.
That was a hike, but I got my steps in for sure!

See the Alps in the background?
Crammed a bit of culture in at the top in the chapel,

On top of the world at the lookout.

What a great place this is!

Tomorrow, we head on to Maribor for the workshops.
Exciting days ahead….

Love and hugs,
Barb

  1. WOW looks gorgeous and loving the blue skies! You both look nice and relaxed and glad to hear you are having a wonderful time. Best wishes to Linda and good luck for the workshops tomorrow.

  2. Ah, that's maybe how I know of Slovenia. Yes it's true re the padlocks! Looks and sounds like you are both having a fantastic time. The locals are friendly wherever you go, because you are friendly and approachable, and folk just naturally drift towards you. Thank you for cheering me up and for the travelogue. Much appreciated. Although, that sure does look an awful lot like Arthur's Seat in the middle of that last photo! Dave, are you sure they're where they said they were going!!!!

Good luck with the workshops. You'll have a whole new section of extended Clarity family by the end of the week I'm sure.

    Love Brenda xx

  3. Glad you are having a great time. My friend got engaged on that bridge! One of those padlocks belongs to Trish and Neil, he threw the key into the river after so she could never undo it, how romantic!

  4. I have heard about the bridge with the padlocks, think the chap was telling the truth. What a wonderful place, oh how I wish we could travel more. I would love to see some of these sights. Good luck with the workshops bet you both do an amazing job. X x

  5. Wonderful Barbara thank you for taking the time to share your journey with us xx
If Linda Williams is the same as me ( we have the same name ) you will have a blooming good time xx

  6. Hi Barb(&Linda),
Looks like you are having a wonderful time and it looks so gorgeous. How wonderful to see those lovely blue skies and the Alps. You've certainly got your steps for today ( & probably tomorrow too!). Good luck for tomorrow although neither of you will need it. Love and hugs Alison xxx

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Hope you've all had lovely weather today, it's been gorgeous here. Dave and I went for a lovely walk in Hamsterley Forest, which made a nice change. Sending love and hugs to you all, Alison xxx

    2. Hi Alison, here at the same time for a change! Glad you had a nice walk. We were shopping in Northallerton – there was a cool breeze blowing straight down the high street xx

  7. Birthday greetings (sorry they're a bit late).
Lovely photos, I am glad you're having a bit of a chance to relax.
The Accademia bridge in Venice was full of padlocks on our first visit. Most had initials marked on them and tradition had it that placing on there would ensure you returned. They were all gone the next time we went as they were becoming too heavy for the old bridge to bear. I hope all goes well tomorrow xx

  8. Hi Barbara
What a beautiful place and some lovely sunshine too. Yes I've heard of the padlocks on the bridge too, lovely isn't it. Enjoy your evening birthday celebrations, what mischief will the two of you get up to I wonder. Safe journey to the workshops tomorrow, you two will be amazing.
    Love Diane xxx

    1. Hello lovely blog friends, it's been a lovely sunny day today. Been to see the dentist about my broken tooth (too much excitement during the rugby on Saturday!), I will have to resist Clarity goodies for a while I think! Sending hugs xxx

  9. What a lovely place. You both look so relaxed.

The padlocks are left by people in love – they are in Italy too and I think parts of France. Have caused problems in places where there are so many as they are too heavy for the railings they are attached to.

Have a great workshop. Hugs xx

  10. Looks gorgeous there and so much to see. Lovely photos, you both look so relaxed and happy. Nice that you've had time to see some of the sights while uou are there instead of it being all work related. Peros Bridge over Bristol Harbour has padlocks on it for the same reasons (lovers). Enjoy the workshops I'm sure you'll be so appreciated.xxx

  11. Hello Barb,
What fabulous photos, it looks idyllic. You didn't have to tell us that Linda liked dragons, she went with you after all ha ha. (I'll be barred now, won't I?)
Good luck for tomorrow, have a wonderful time and most of all enjoy it.
    Maureen xx

  13. Looks absolutely gorgeous. Wish I was there with you both. I am still not quite sure how you ended up in Slovinia doing Workshops but it seems like a very good idea!! Lovely place and lovely company, what more could you both want??? Ah ME!!!!! Xxx ha ha kidding. X

  14. A very happy belated birthday dear friend with love always from Samuel, Tom and me. It looks like you are having a lovely time. Slovenia looks both beautiful and fascinating and I definitely think I need to get Tom to take me there when he gets his redundancy pay lol! Enjoy your workshops and the rest of your 'break'. Hopefully see you soon xx

  15. Beautiful blue skies, gorgeous scenery, romantic tales and two happy smiling lovely ladies…what could be better! Enjoy your workshops tomorrow xx

  16. Glad you had a lovely birthday and such a great time in Slovenia, too! And what beautiful weather! It's the same over here in Germany – blue sky, sunny and warm. BLISS! As for the lovers padlock, they seem to be everywhere now. The bridge crossing the River Rhine and leading to the main station and the Cathedralin Cologne is just so full with those padlocks, it's become a real tourist attraction by now. Have fun at your workshops tomorrow. Xx

  17. Looks fabulous Barbara, thank you for sharing the photo's with us. One day Clarity will rule the world! And it would be a better, fairer and nicer one for that! Happy Birthdays xx

  18. Hello Barb and Linda, thanks for sharing these amazing photos. It looks like a great place to visit, so another one added to the list. Hope the workshops go very well. Take care. Bx

  19. Wow Barb and Linda, what a stunning place, love the one with the mountains in the background – bit like the Groovi ones! Glad for you both that you've had the chance to explore a bit. Not such a bad life is it? Have a great time. Going to be watching Maria later today xxx
